Blackbeards devil fruit is a Logia. He cannot dissolve himself into to darkness to avoid attacks because of darkness' inherit property of absorbing everything so it is now part of Blackbeard's nature to absorb damage. However, in return Blackbeard does get the neat ability of absorbing (more like sealing) someone's devil fruit power when he touches them (logias can't dissipate, zoans can't transform, etc).

The "event" mentioned here is literally my favorite One Piece arc, and it won't be too long until you get there, I'll just leave it at that 😂. Kinda sad you'll be getting into filler episodes now, but at least it's not that many. I think I'll be back by ep 337 when it ends. Your reactions are always top tier tho, thanks for providing them so consistently!

Bro I started dying laughing when you said yeah I know the big event this is gonna cause, this is gonna cause luffy's whole ancestry to jump blackboard and throw his fat ass in the sea😂

Think about this Lucky; at the start of the ep; Blackbeard was talking about how he was going to capture Luffy and turn him in to the World Government as part of his plan to become a Warlord. What do you think the World Government will do if they find out he defeated the second in command of the strongest pirate crew in the world?

Krowft

It's a high-risk/high-reward fruit. It doesn't make you able to dodge things like a normal logia, in fact, he said it makes him feel MORE pain than a regular person would (from the same attack), so it actually makes him MORE vulnerable than normal. But the tradeoff he believes is 100% worth it. And he himself must be extra strong to be able to fight while taking EXTRA damage from all attacks

Krowft

And it's not just about being able to touch logias, it's about being able to nullify any devil fruit power in general when he's touching you

Mark

GOT tonight? or do you need to push back for tomorrow? no rush im just excited

Eden

Blackbeard's inability to dodge attacks like other Logia users is due to the unique nature of his Devil Fruit. Since his body is composed of darkness, he has a natural tendency to pull in surrounding objects, including attacks. This characteristic makes him more susceptible to damage compared to typical Logia users and even regular people. However, this comes with the benefit of being able to nullify other Devil Fruits and utilize gravity-like abilities, allowing him to draw opponents, such as Ace, toward him during battles. Despite these relatively weird characteristics, he can still transform his body into darkness and manipulate it, which is why the Yami Yami no Mi (Darkness-Darkness Fruit) is classified as a Logia.
