The Villains in this arcs are trash boring . But the the other things are nice

Blue buddy

The flashback is one of favorite parts of the arc thank u for the upload

Eden

to each their own! i personally don't like this arc, the pacing is slow and it's just not too interesting to me, but if you like it then don't let people convince you it's bad lol

g27

I don’t understand, if Nami and Sanji don’t accept Jimbei and hate him and want to attack him, what’s Luffy gonna do?

Mike G. M.

Heads up my dude; Episode 542 in your next recording session is going to be filler. As in, pure, true, "not only unrelated to the current arc but is also a crossover with another franchise" style filler, so just be aware of that XD

AccordingToLucky

Oh damn, like the last one i didnt like filler filler? 👀

AccordingToLucky

Tell them to shut up and take it, and they will. He is the captain.

Mike G. M.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, then yeah; that type of *filler* filler.

Mike G. M.

Sure... just like how Usopp totally took Luffy wanting to get a new ship XD

ChosenAnimal

Tiger dropped the hardest bar ever. “I saw humans”

g27

The queen’s personality should’ve been a wise woman based on how they built her up in the past episodes, but Oda made her stupid I swear it’s for comedic purposes, and that’s not even funny. What’s wrong with Oda post-timeskip? I haven’t laughed once since the timeskip, the comedy is off it’s not funny anymore, and sexualizing the woman isn’t a good decision, is he off his meds or what because the show is actually really different to how it used to be. Think about it, he makes Sanji a sucker for sex because he wants you to laugh and no one laughed. The whole Sanji thing is just bad. The hell is wrong with Oda? He’s sacrificing his story for stupid things, the queen looks like a stupid character now.

Mike G. M.

Quick question mate; have you actually seen OP before, or are you watching blind along with Lucky? I really haven't been able to tell as of late.

g27

Nah I haven’t seen One Piece before, I just started watching it with Lucky since Marineford. No wonder it’s over 1k episodes, each episode is one scene lol.

g27

No shit he saw humans, how is that bars lmaoo.

Nicholas Kent

The story of the fishmen is clearly inspired by the history of African Americans. Fisher Tiger and Otohime are inspired by Malcolm X and MLK Otohime is incredibly empathetic because of her Observation Haki. This is another attribute that this ability can possess. She strongly feels the emotions of those she interacts with. This is what might give the impression that she's bipolar, but that's not the case xD She's crying at the end of the episode because she feels the level of hatred of Fisher Tiger towards humans

AccordingToLucky

As he should, humans were horrible toward them, then again, not all humans so i get it. Also, i agree, there was def inspiration there!

Nicholas Kent

Look at Fisher Tiger ! Come on ! He's a jamaican american ! xD

AccordingToLucky

OMG, I KNEW HE REMINDED ME OF SOMETHING, U R RIGHT LMAOOOO I cant unsee it now 💀

Nicholas Kent

I swear Oda was listening "Get up, Stand up" when he was writing Fisher Tiger story ! xD Oh and about the size difference between Otohime, Shirahoshi and Neptune... I always thought that mermaids reproduced like some fish lol. Otohime was never pregnant. The egg is formed externally. Especially when you see that the king is a merman... Not sure he got a D

AccordingToLucky

Thank god the egg was formed externally lmao Cuz otherwise, she wouldnt have insides anymore lol Also, yea, Fisher Tiger was one badass dude!

Bogdan Petrovic

Wait till 200-300 more episodes pass and u realize actually how bad post timeskip is.

g27

What’re you talking about? Otohime has legs! She isn’t a mermaid.

Nicholas Kent

Still she was a mermaid (a gold fish one). She had legs because she was 36 and keep them 24/7 because she was a human sympathiser.

g27

Mermaids get legs when they turn older? Is this some kind of reference to Ariel the Disney princess mermaid?

Nicholas Kent

Yes. We learned this with Kokoro in the Enies Lobby arc lol Merdmaids can switch between tail and legs after 30 And yeah of course it's a Little Merdmaid reference

g27

So mermaids can disguise themselves as humans on land and walk between people without anyone knowing?! That’s interesting.

Nicholas Kent

Camie did it with a tail in the Sabaody arc lol But their goal is not to hide indefinitely. Jews could try to conceal their identity in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. Was that a viable solution?

g27

It was viable to a small minority that actually got away with obfuscating their Jewish heritage, though it required planning way ahead. But you already know that it wasn’t really doable because the Germans had comprehensive genealogical information, so they just came to people with lists of names they were looking for. And what happened was them first de-integrating them from society, and taking away their rights, which then you got the famous “yellow star” for the Jews. The idea here is that in One Piece, people don’t have national citizenships and documental proof of their assimilation, right? Or am I missing that?

Nicholas Kent

Yes, but no human being wants to live like that! Surviving with a hereditary diseas! Mermaids can blend in with humans, but for how long? And only those in their thirties can do it. So, if one of them sees a girl like Camie being sold at auction, should she just close her eyes? The same goes for the fishmen; they can't hide because they have the features of marine animals. Their people have suffered far too much to tolerate all this. And it's been going on for 800 years, ever since the supremacy of the World Government.

g27

Yeah you’re right they can’t live between humans, I wasn’t suggesting that, I meant that a mermaid can go onto land and do what ever he/she wants and comeback down without anyone knowing. Because you know how much pirates like to capture and sell mermaids for their value, so it’s usually unsafe to go on land, but now they can secretly.

Nicholas Kent

Oda never talked about mermaids doing that. They're far too scared.

g27

No wonder Luffy calls them cowards lol. Fishmen on the other hand are ballzy, like fisher tiger.

Nicholas Kent

Luffy doesn't call all mermaids "cowards" lol. Only Shirahoshi. Besides, the subtitles in Lucky's version mistranslate the nickname Luffy gives her. He calls her "Yowamushi," which means "scaredy-cat," and is also a distortion of her real name (something Luffy often does with people he meets). And fishmen don't often come out of the sea either. Apart from pirates and Tom, it's a rare occurrence. And anyway, they're less fascinating than mermaids. They're worth much, much less on the slave market. PLUS they're 10x stronger than an average human (which is not the case with mermaids).

g27

You’re right, fishmen are already supposedly worth less and they’re strong so why would they be afraid. Plus, do you know Japanese? That’s awesome that you corrected a mistranslation!

Nicholas Kent

Caribou is on Fishmen Island and he ONLY captures young mermaids. There's a reason for that lol. And Shirahoshi would indeed be the jackpot! She's 40x the size of an average mermaid, in addition to being THE mermaid princess lol. No, I don't read Japanese, but I know my favorite manga lol

g27

You mean you read your favorite manga in Japanese? I’m confused😅. Also do you mind me asking (probably a stupid question, they might have answered it in an episode before but I couldn’t find it), why do the celestial dragons want mermaids so much? Like do they eat them? Why is a bigger mermaid better? Lol

Nicholas Kent

No I don't read it in Japanese xD But I know my stuff. One Piece is my favorite manga and I'm passionate about its lore. The Celestial Dragons want mermaids because they want to do messed-up things with them lol To fulfill their fantasies or to make them participate in stupid games. Like putting them in a huge aquarium with piranhas. Because mermaids are the fastest marine creatures in the world, so it amuses them to wonder how long they would manage to escape from piranhas... Anyway, that's what Saint Charlos wanted to do with Camie when he wanted to buy her.

g27

Oh my god is that another reference to the colosseum?🤣 See how long they survive lol.

Nicholas Kent

Not sure about that. Oda just found a way to make the Celestial Dragons more and more dispicable lol

g27

You know that’s why I never watched One Piece fully, because if I decided to watch it, then I had to be committed, just like you knowing about everything on the lore and exact wordings. That’s how I was when I watched Naruto, I know that show very well, but now I don’t like the show because of the flaws Kishimoto makes. The idea is really good but the story is ruined, it’s just not a good story. I feel like I’d run into a similar disappointment with One Piece, other than I don’t have the time and passion to recommit to another really long show, I really do feel like the author is just writing guided by his desires, not what’s best for the story. Like how some people said that he sexualized women post-timeskip for “fan service”, like that’s so unnecessary for the story he just lost me and lost my respect. That’s why I respect American shows because they really do try to perfect the story first and foremost, like ATLA or Marvel before Stan Lee’s death, but Japanese authors really don’t have the same level of thinking. Right?

Nicholas Kent

You want to know what I think? I think it's ridiculous to put Naruto and One Piece in the same category. Naruto was a good shonen nekketsu despite a lot of inconsistencies from the start, and then it ended badly. One Piece is an odyssey (which also has its flaws). Kishimoto's work and Oda's work are not the same. As for the work of the Japanese and the Americans, I disagree. The Americans have some very good works, of course, but the amount of work involved isn't the same. Oda is the author and illustrator of One Piece. He has his team of assistants for the drawings, but ultimately, it's HIS work. Western creators don't have the same level of investment. They have entire teams for results that aren't necessarily better. I find ATLA overrated. It was good, no problem there, but it's still a Nickelodeon series. The lore isn't any more impressive than that of Yu-Gi-Oh, in my opinion xD. As for fan service, yes, the Japanese are perverse in that respect. But Westerners aren't far behind. Between what we see on TV, in movies, and in plenty of commercials, we're not exactly innocent either. We're not far behind at all.

g27

“I want to be hokage” and “I want to be the pirate king”, then the world starts revolving around them, and we know with certainty that they will become hokage and pirate king just because they freakin said it, feels the same to me. Yeah Kishimoto and Oda’s works aren’t the same because they can’t just rip off each other’s stories, but the idea is still the same even if it’s a different genre. As for the Americans and the Japanese, that’s the issue when you have only one person creating the story. I remember Lucky saying he likes fillers because it shows you more of the characters and personalities. ATLA showed us that without fillers, it’s embedded in the story itself, but the Japanese could never do it. I’m not impressed by ATLA’s lore, I’m impressed by its perfection. I remember saying that some people really hated the editor yap session because they say it’s spoilery, but I don’t know maybe it was okay with One Piece specifically, turned out that things were introduced way later in the show because Oda just came up with them later, but they apply to the older episodes so it created inconsistencies, basically the show wasn’t perfected. They say “Katara had it the worst”, or “Zuko had it the worst”, but realistically what Aang would go through psychologically after his kind being extinct like that, it just can’t be shown in a kids show. So it’s not the lore that’s impressive, it would be like Yu-Gi-Oh lol!!! I for one believe that no on screen adultery is vital for any story. The idea on your last point wasn’t the perverse fan service, it’s that the author would sacrifice the story for what the fans want to see, like he’s a fan himself. For example, you see these TikTok or insta edits on some scenes of Naruto or one piece or any show by that matter, it’s like instead of writing a story, he just creates a platform for clip worthy scenes, it’s obvious he does that intentionally, like the perverse scenes. Or that in any fight he drags it out, everyone starts lightly and then they go all out, like what? Because he wants to build suspense? Or for example if he likes a character then he’ll make him live, or if he wants to be spiteful to the fans then he’ll make him die, nothing to do about the character in the story itself if he actually should live or die. Endless examples for the idea I’m trying to convey. P.S, I’m talking about Japanese authors generally, not just Oda.

Nicholas Kent

Yeah, but I still don't agree with you. When you look at what's been done in the world of comics, frankly, it's not any better. ATLA is truly unique in American animation. And once again, I think it's overrated lol

g27

Haha, to each their own. I appreciate your opinions too. Plus, I don’t read comics, if I did then I would’ve read mangas, so I have no idea.

Mike G. M.

Okay that's fair; I asked cause I legitimately couldn't tell if this was your first time seeing them or if you were like me and already knew what was coming and just deciding to vent your frustrations XD

Mike G. M.

Btw: just ran through your thread Nicholas where you said you used to be a fan of Naruto before you started noticing the flaws in Kishimotos writing. The question for me is obvious; what your opinions on Boruto and a sequel and Bleach as the last of the Big 3?~

g27

For Naruto, the idea is really good but the execution is really bad. But for Boruto, the idea is bad to begin with and the execution wouldn’t matter even though it was still bad. I haven’t watched Boruto but I know enough about it, (Why would I after being disappointed by Naruto? And it’s worse than Naruto?). It became really apparent to me that they created it for monetization first, story second, just like Korra. It has nothing to do with the story, if it actually needed that or not. Kishimoto didn’t even write Boruto in the beginning, it was some other guy, then he took over in some later chapter. So if their intention wasn’t on the story, why would mine be? I’d like to consider Boruto non canon but I can’t deny it when someone speaks on it, it’s like it ruined Naruto even more, just like how Korra gives you bad vibes on ATLA when you rewatch it. We’re watching a story for God’s sake, but most people wouldn’t care for the story, they’d care for cool characters getting cool scenes that they can clip and make an edit on so people judge the show being good or bad based on corny clips😂 So many people would say, “You gotta watch Boruto because look at the clips where Naruto and Sasuke fight Momoshiki!”, Like WHAT? Now that’s either of two, either the fans don’t care about the story so the authors stopped caring, or Japanese authors aren’t really good at writing stories. As for Bleach, I haven’t watched it and have no idea on what’s it even about. Mainly for two reasons, I haven’t had the time and passion to commit to a really long show again, and that I started to have an idea about what Japanese production is all about, every show is reeeally similar in some matter. They have the same level of thinking.
