Zoro's scene is fantastic! It's a scene that shows us once again that he's the crew's second-in-command, Luffy's first mate! When it's necessary to step in for Luffy or give him a serious talking-to, he's the one who does it. Just like during the conflict with Usopp or when Nothing Happened! Luffy had waaaay too much fun during the first two-thirds of the arc. He ended up getting into trouble against enemies 300 times weaker than him (even the final boss). It's ridiculous! My guy is way too excited to have his first adventure in the New World! xD That said, he'll become the Pirate King thanks to this carefree attitude. It's what allowed him to set sail at 17yo and be so inventive with his Devil Fruit!

Garp catching strays 200 episodes later You Love to see it. Fuck that dude

g27

How is Coby the new hope? Because he’s a kid? There’s a gazillion kids is anyone just a new hope now lol?

g27

Shirororororo <3

Legit question, why is Law a pirate? Why is Luffy a pirate? Why is everyone a pirate? No wonder smoker assumes they’re bad people. What is the One Piece anyway? Treasure? So you’ll go through limbs and near death experience for buying power? Half the crew doesn’t even want the One Piece so why are they after it? I don’t understand why Luffy wants to be pirate anyways, literally non of his crew were pirates, he’s the only one actual pirate that invited them. Is it because he wants to see the world? He can be a sailor, and they all get what they want anyways because they don’t need to become pirates for their dreams.

g27

I assume it’s probably power not treasure right? It gives you power. Otherwise why does everyone want that treasure? To be able to buy a house lol? It’s just buying power?

Philip

because he has a pure heart for justice

g27

Bro Dragon has a pure heart for justice, he’s the new hope. You can’t change the world government from being a marine, dragon recognized that, or else he would’ve been a marine and changed it from within too.

g27

Most male characters don’t have eyebrows. It’s just thick skin lol

Philip

Luffy is in it for the adventure, he wants to get the one piece because once you conquer the grand line and attain the one piece at the final island you become the pirate king, and like luffy said when talking to rayleigh around episode 400 was that it's the pirate king who has the most freedom in the world. A sailor doesn't have freedom, they still have to obey the world government. Being a pirate doesn't inherently make you an evil criminal, it just means you don't obey the WG. Luffy wants absolute freedom. He doesn't want to be restricted by borders or laws. The One Piece is not just about treasure. It's about freedom and the truth about the state of the world from how it originated during the void century. Law's reason for being a pirate will be revealed soon. The crew is not after the one piece for themselves, they are just riding along to help Luffy achieve his dream, and they all have their own dreams that they want to achieve along the way too. Maybe some of his crew didn't want to become pirates, but for example: Robin is literally illegal to exist, Franky would probably be enslaved or disassembled for his cyborg tech, and if you remember that rat Navy captain Nezumi in Arlong Park was fine with Nami being enslaved to Arlong for the rest of her life. Their dream is not to be pirates, being a pirate is just the cost of their freedom and survival. Zoro wants to be WSS, Nami wants to map the world, Robin wants to learn the true history, Sanji wants the all blue, etc. Luffy's dream enables theirs, they aren't following him for the one piece, they follow him because following him guarantees freedom. One Piece is not about piracy, it's about the freedom to lay out your own path for your life. So a "pirate" is just a label for anyone who refuses to bend to authority. Think back to Enies Lobby and the theme of it's not a crime just to exist. Robin was wanted from age 8 for being able to read, Ace was sentenced to death just because of who his father was. Boa's sisters and the fishmen as former slaves discriminated against and if recaptured would go back to being slaves forever. Basically the point is the world and the world government isn't just or fair. Your future can be predetermined to be enslaved or executed because of your name, race, social status, etc. Luffy reclaims people's humanity by fighting to reclaim their freedom. Even though this is illegal, this doesn't make Luffy evil. He's not inherently a hero either. He's not trying to save the world, but he does act when freedom is threatened.

I don't really see the Eren was right so much as I see that the world didn't give him much of a choice, so he did what he felt he had to tbh. The world had plenty of opportunities to course correct and they refused over and over, so yeah, most people won't just roll over and die so Eren did what he felt he had to to secure survival for his friends.

g27

So Luffy and Dragon are fighting the same fight on different areas. Remember when Dragon called for freedom on the oppressed poor against the nobles in Sabo’s arc after Marineford? You said he who claims the One Piece becomes the pirate king, do we know what the One Piece is? Why does Zoro want to become the world’s strongest swordsman? What does he want to do when reaches that state? Because I’m seeing him following the same footsteps of Mihawk which would eventually lead him into that emptiness. Does he want to do something specific that would need him to be the WSS or something? Honestly the WG wanting to execute Ace makes sense in their world. Ace used Conqueror’s Haki as a 10 year old kid! Not even Luffy did that. He’s the son of the only Pirate King in history. He was never trained. He has insane potential. Ace is on par with Shanks. If Shanks became an Emperor then Ace could definitely be one. He could’ve been the future pirate king with his prerequisites, but no one guided him. The WG wanted him gone so bad.

Krowft

He didn't make the reach because he's a genius, he's been working with g5 for years and he knows them very well, that's why he came to that conclusion and not Caesar.

g27

9:32 Bro he changed her coat not her underwear. She’s already almost naked everyday so what the fu** is she talking about? He put clothes on her.

Philip

Zoro wants to become WSS to uphold the promise he made to Kuina. Mihawk is all alone with no rivals, no ambitions, just wants peace. Zoro has evolved his goal to be strong enough to protect his captain, his crew which is his new family. When the crew gets decimated by Kuma, Zoro doesn't hesitate to throw his life and ambition a way because he believes his dream is worthless if he can't protect his captain. So in a way, Zoro has something that's more important than his dream. I don't think WG wanting to execute Ace from birth made sense. Imagine in our world if the US government executed the infant son of Osama bin Laden before he commits any crime to prevent him from becoming a "symbol". The WG hunted pregnant women, killed newborns, erased villages, extended the search all for a preemptive measure of Ace's potential. Being the son of Roger was enough cause for people to hate him and WG to want him executed, and as a result Ace didn't even believe he had a right to exist until right before his death. A child is not responsible for the sins of the father. If Ace grew up in a normal household, not with mountain bandits, maybe he could have lived a normal civilian life, even with all his potential. It's not like the WG assumed Ace would be raised by evil pirates to bring that potential out, then they would have not killed all those innocent women in random villages. And Ace is not on par with Shanks, Ace is not even on par with Marco. Ace (a logia) went extreme diff with Jinbei for 5 days and couldn't even win. Ace lived on Whitebeard's boat for years and could never touch him, Whitebeard was literally dodging his attacks in his sleep. And Shanks being an emperor means he's on par with Whitebeard, and they even clashed before. If you mean in terms of potential Ace had the potential to become a yonko, maybe, but he was at sea for years ahead of Luffy and has horrible haki. Never used observation or armament on screen, and only used conqueror's once in a flashback when he was 10.

g27

Yeah definitely it doesn’t make sense in our world, that’s why I mentioned it being in their world. And yeah Ace wasn’t on par with Shanks, I meant his potential is on par with Shanks. We didn’t see him be that strong because no one taught Ace. Luffy had Reyleigh, Zoro had Mihawk, Shanks had Roger, Ace had no one. So no surprise in not seeing him even know how to use any types of his Haki abilities. Didn’t they say Haki is specific to each person? Meaning each person has a unique form of Haki? Some Haki’s can only reach so far in level, others have a higher potential, like Roger and Shanks. Ace has his father’s Haki, that sets a high potential for him. If Ace actually had a teacher, if Shanks actually taught Ace how to use his Haki, I believe Ace would reach similar grounds to Shanks pretty quickly it’s basically like Shanks teaching Roger what he taught him again. We saw in the Sabo arc he was a prodigy since he was a child. He was strong, stronger than Luffy, and learned combat pretty good for his age, and he’s the only kid we’ve seen using conqueror’s haki that’s insane. It’s because no one taught Ace how to use his father’s genes, he relied on his fire magical powers alone, and trained HIMSELF on that too, because no one even trained him on his devil fruit powers too. Luffy was on sea too but never used observation and armament haki until he was taught and trained and practiced for 2 years by someone strong and experienced who orchestrated that for him. Now put Ace in Luffy’s shoes.

Philip

True it's much easier to learn haki from a teacher than to develop it yourself naturally and train yourself. Ace definitely relied too much on his devil fruit. That's the problem with logia spammers if they meet an opponent with good haki. Like Caribou would have folded all the straw hats if they met pre time skip because no one could touch him. But yeah Whitebeard should have definitely taught Ace haki considering he was his captain, clearly he didn't do a very good job haha

Philip

Unless all the top brass of the government falls and Koby takes over, gets some actual power and influence then I could see it happening. Even Garp couldn't change the Navy because the 5 elders above him are the ones in control

g27

The top brass of the government can only fall under Dragon’s plan. Otherwise Koby isn’t any hope. So why does Lucky keep insisting Koby’s the new savior of the world haha, Dragon is the only person actively bringing down the 5 elders and the world government for any of this to happen lol.

g27

It pains me to think that Ace had more potential than Luffy. The author just got rid of him, maybe so Luffy can have the spotlight? Lmao

Maks Lesniewski

I believe Ace was killed off to show Luffy the reality of what it means to be a pirate, and its consequences.

g27

I believe Ace was killed off because of how much people made fun of Oda not killing anyone LOL.

Maks Lesniewski

If that was true, he wouldn't wait hundreds of episodes/chapters before going for another big kill.

g27

From what I’ve heard is that Oda just doesn’t want to kill anyone because he wants happy endings. So him waiting hundreds of chapters later is just him doing what he always wanted. Killing Ace was something he had to do because of the community slander lol. He got that over with, then he continued faking deaths like he always does. Ace’s death wasn’t a change in writing style, it was a one off exception that was influenced outside the story, being because of the community.
