Yeah... Oda's "no deaths" rule is sometimes genuinely ridiculous. Because at this level, Mocha has the same resistance to poison as Luffy...

Nobody dies in one piece except Ace... and Whitebeard, don't forget my man WB went out like a g. Also, not sure if anyone already told you, but Mr. 2. Bon Clay is also still alive. He succeeded Ivankov as the new Queen of Newkama land and is doing just fine on level 5.5 in Impel Down. It was revealed in a cover story around the time in chapter 666 of the introduction of the Yeti Cool Brothers in this arc, and it doesn't come back up later, so I figured I'd mention it 😅 Yeah, the fake-out deaths are getting a little much, and in this arc, we've already got Brownbeard and probably Mocha to add to the list. Idk how you can survive that overdose without plot

To be fair, he never said they were too far gone, he did use the word 'probably'. So it's likely that they may be too far gone, at least the bigger ones as they have been there longer, but it's not a guarantee, there may still be time to save them though it would likely be very very difficult

Yeah, as much as I value one piece, that's one of the most validest criticisms. Though death is not the ONLY way to add stakes, and it's level of importance differs from person to person, the show itself DOES play with the idea of death for drama so it's only fair to criticise it when they don't follow through. Secondly, it can get a little on the nose with some instances so it's like Oda is trolling with it lol I don't think ALL fake-out deaths are bad, sometimes it can be good, but when someone looks like they should have died the fake-outs should ideally be the exception and not the rule. Though as a whole, negatives are outweighed by the postives in the show, it's a really good show imo. And the pacing issues (the second also valid criticism) is really anime-only, as they keep catching up to the manga, so that is at least understandable, but they should have gone seasonal WAY sooner.

Luffy deliberately left that person conscious. At his level of control he's able to target individuals with his haki. Remember, he could already use Conqueror's Haki on an entire battlefield 2 years ago, but without control, so he's not only stronger with it now but he's had 2 whole years to practice it. Remember when he used it against the fake strawhats? That was in the middle of a busy street and he only knocked out the fake strawhats, even though the civilians would not have been strong enough to resist it.

I completely agree! Honestly, I don't mind that some characters who are close to death survive. Of course! It even adds a touch of realism. Not everyone who's seriously injured or poisoned ends up dying. The fact that little Mocha doesn't die instantly after eating the candy is touching and even kind of cute. THE THING IS, NO ONE EVER DIES (except for Whitebeard, Ace, and the flashback characters)! It's frustrating because you end up not worrying about the characters anymore! Oda only conceives of a character's death as a means of developing another character or world building. Random and/or unjust deaths that end up being nothing more than a memory in the minds of a few simply don't exist in One Piece! But One Piece still is my favorite manga ! There are too many good things to limit ourselves to that
