BOOTY WARRIOR

I forgive endeavor. He's the goat.

ChosenAnimal

Endeavor the goat. Dabi chose violence himself.

This is interesting: I don’t think I’ve seen a character on a redemption arc in… i was about to say ‘anime’ but really *any* show where they double down on his villainy halfway through his story. Like: most of this is brand new information. If this was shown back when Endeavour was first introduced, he would’ve almost been irredeemable. Its so interesting that they showed him has a bad guy, then started showing him changing his ways, then going back and saying: he was even worse then you thought at the start. I don’t see them suddenly changing his redemption arc, but I am super curious how they’re going to try progressing from here. Also: just regarding that doctor at the beginning, i don’t feel like he was paid off or anything. I got the vibe more that he’s just being a good doctor by keeping patient confidentially, but hes still going to say that this is something that is looked down upon if anyone else caught on to what Endeavour was doing.

I love the psychological aspect of My Hero Academia! The characters have quirks and live in a fantasy world, sure. But you still get the feeling you're observing the lives of real people. That's very rare in the shonen nekketsu genre

Endeavour was a shit parent, don't get me wrong, but it's not like he didn't try to communicate (even though he wasn't very good at that, like Bakugo). We literally saw him tell Toya to find another dream, which is pretty much what his mom was telling him, but you only accepted that the mom tried to communicate and the dad didn't. Bear in mind that a lot of the 'communication' happened off-screen, he did say in one scene "no matter what I tell him he keeps coming back with burns" (paraphrasing), which means he had been trying to get him to stop training off by himself. So, the way I see it is more nuanced, it's like 90% Endeavour's fault, 10% his wife's fault, he was a shit and obsessed parent, bad at communicating. But he DID try to communicate and fix things, and his mom wasn't actually much better than the dad at doing that either, they both pretty much said the same thing. Toya I don't blame purely because he's a child, but I would say he was likely in need of some discipline that his parents were not giving him (his dad was too focused on Shoto and his mom was too afraid to discipline him even though it's her job as a parent), and he likely was in serious need of some therapy by that point and neither parent tried to find a therapist.

It's also funny how you're talking as though this was currently happening. 100% awful behaviour on his part and he definitely needs to make up for it, but in the current day he has been making steps in the right direction, the current him is unlikely to ever slap his wife again, and he's doing his best to accept his mistakes. I'm not suggesting that he doesn't deserve the criticism, he does, but when he slapt his wife years ago it doesn't mean he's currently slapping her right now lol

I can agree with u. However, just cus a parent changed, doesnt mean its all good now and the history of trauma he caused to the kid is erased, cuz he got old and changed a bit. He hyped the kid up with his dream and the discarded him. He should've explained way better and be there for the kid after he saw he wasnt the one. He should've eased him into it, he should've let him train with his brother Shoto and him. He just told him, go find a new dream? Seriously? That dream was his connection to his hero ( dad ). The mom is also insane. But i guess its a cultural thing where she kept quiet. All in all, i can agree with what u said, but im not ganna slap him on the wrist and tell Endeavor is cool now when honestly, he should've been in jail for child abuse a long time ago. He doesnt deserve to even have a chance at being a hero after that.. And he is the number 1 hero? At that point, society failed. His shitty behavior was rewarder in the end. His child was damaged forever and he never answered for it. Dark actually, when u think about it. Also proves not everyone should be a parent. 😤
