My problem with this ep was Jin Woo worrying about becoming a killer and blaming it on the system for rationalization. But the system said "defeat" and not kill the enemies so he didn't even try to defeat them by disabling them. "I am becoming a killer. I don't have a choice." 🥺

Protagonist's name is Jinwoo, but pronounced Jinu or Gee-Nu. All the name's are Korean and is probably gonna take longer to get used to than Japanese names.

That feeling when I’ve actually been playing an MMO lately and that spider fight actually reminds me of when I’m trying to fight a bods while slightly under leveled 🤣 You said the main character and the trust-fund kid have the same name? Basically yes, but that isn’t even a writing thing, thats just a Korean thing. The thing about Korean names is, due to some cultural and historical context that I’m not going to get into; basically all first names have to be 2 syllables long. And when you take into account that almost a quarter of Korean has just 1 surname? Korean names are historically very limited, though the variety has been increasing as of late.

I don’t think thats the dub lol: i think its the same way that in Bleach ‘Now you feel like number one’ is just naturally sung in English since… i guess the sound director thought that it would sound more epic in English lol. (My Hero Academia also does the same: its actually not uncommon a practice as you might assume)

By “god level” you mean he’d become immortal? Like omnipotent? It doesn’t make sense that he’d give him powers to find a rival that’ll kill him, because why would he open up portals to the world and give people ranking powers if he can just give only one person solo leveling powers and battle that dude? Other ranks don’t level up so that doesn’t add up. And if he wants them to kill him then why would he kill those people anyways? Let them all survive always and only wait for your own death LOL

But they animated the game system’s screen in English too. The notifications, the numbers even, the scripts on Jinwoo’s monitor are all English I thought they actually put in work to animate that, so I figured they’d definitely put in work to recreate a song. I didn’t know other animes had English songs too, I didn’t watch Bleach and MHA.

Yeah it's a fair game! But don't try to put blame on the system to rationalize your bloodlust! Lol. If you are really worried about it, try to knock them out to see if that counts as defeat.

I don't know if the system also told the player to "defeat" the dungeon bosses as well that he has been killing. So in this case, defeat actually would mean kill.

The composer hiroyuki sawano often produces english songs for the animes he works on, like call of silence from attack on titan or voices of the chord from 86.

Because maybe only this weak E rank hunter displayed such a character and intellect where not only did he make it possible for some of them to survive, but he was also selfless to a point of dying for others. Maybe he saw something in him that the other Hunters didnt have. Also, maybe everything else is a game to the God statue and this is a new game he started with the main protagonist, where he gets strong enough, not to kill him, but to challenge him and give him a thrill of a rival.

Well you said it yourself, “not to kill him”, so what’s the point of rivaling someone if there’s zero stakes? Plus it doesn’t resonate with the statues personality of demanding people to prostrate in front of him or die, now he wants a rival? Kind of contradicting🤔 I think there’s definitely an ulterior motive. It’s like Jinwoo is being used by the system. He said it himself, and wanted to rebut that by saying he’ll use it back.
