Okay... I'm gonna walk through my thought progressing on this whole thing about Stars Quirk and names and the whole "not knowing if he's All for One and Shigaraki" thing that all took place in like two minutes. 1) You know, we're getting a lot of flashbacks to Shigarakis past. I wonder if that's trying to say that the reason Stars power isn't working is that there isn't just 2 identities fighting for control of that body, but three? All for One and Shigaraki yes, but Shigaraki isn't actually his real name is it? That's the name All for One gave him, and he's thinking about his house and family, so could we not also add "Tenko Shimura", the name he had as a kid, to the list of identities fighting for control? 2) Wait... wouldn't that mean there's actually 4 names then? If Shigaraki and the name he was born with are two different people, then wouldn't that mean that All For One's birth name would also be there as well? I doubt that he would've been born with the name All For One after all, and if the weakness of Stars Quirk is that she needs to call the real name of a person, does that mean her power could never work on him because All For One is clearly a fake identity? 3) Hang on... how *would* her power work on someone with multiple names? Like... say for whatever reason she wanted to use her Quirk on All Might and said "All Might! Now do (x,y,z)". Well... his name isn't actually All Might is it? It's Yagi. So does that mean it wouldn't work on him unless she said "Yagi"? Or does the fact that All Might adopted that name mean that he is All Might so it would work? 4) Wait; forget All Might; focus on Midoriya. Midoriya has gained, lost and declared his identity so often throughout this show, so if the problem with Stars Quirk is that the person needs to comprehend their identity, could that mean Midoriya would also be immune to this power? Cause if it's used on "Izuku Midoriya", couldn't he just declare "No, I'm Deku!" and break out of it? And then if it's used on "Deku", he could break it by saying "I'm Izuku Midoriya"? 5) No; that can't be the case, because it would be too easy to break. Any villain with a code-name could just "identify" as their other self. So, it has to be the case that if someone has willingly chosen a new name that either one of their names would work... right? Would that then mean you could just have a public name that was bestowed upon you by someone that you didn't choose or like and that would make you immune? Surely not, because even if you don't like it, you'd still answer to it, so you'd identify as that name. 6) Wait, wait, wait... the entire reason he even chose the name "Deku" because he was adopting the name that was forced on him by Bakugos teasing. So does that mean if Bakugo had this power when he was a kid, he wouldn't be able to use it by saying "Deku", because that was a name he gave Midorya, but then when Midoriya made it his hero name he could? Or maybe the opposite? What if it was Deku using it on Bakugo and he said "Kacchan" like he always calls him? Like... Kacchan isn't *not* his name, it's a nickname basically. It's like 'Mike' vs. 'Michael'. So it that as long as you recognise the name is meant for you? Like... if you answer to the name to identify with it that it works? 7) But if that the case then... wouldn't that mean her power "should" actually be working? Even if Shigaraki doesn't "know who he is", he still identifies and reacts to the name Shigaraki; enough at least that he is able to answer if he is Shigaraki or not. So why would that be any different? Is it just because it's not one person with two names rather 2 different people and different voices? Okay... what about Twice then if he was still alive? That guy had like 40 different voices and identities in his head. Or even Toga! Her entire thing about her transformations is that she 'becomes that person', so if she's transformed would she be immune? Since she does actually see herself as another person when she's become them? ........Welcome to the fun of being in my mind I suppose. I am absolutely *WAY* overthinking this but this is just how I roll. (And I didn't actually even properly come to any conclusion at the end either; if anything I now have more questions then answers now XD)
