I agree with you that we need to protect ourselves, regardless of the laws in place. But I would say it also depends on the country we're talking about. Some countries have such high crime rates that it becomes dangerous to ask people to take care of themselves. It's almost like telling them to take the law into their own hands. In a country with a high level of civic responsibility, a respected police force, and a strong justice system, you're definitely right Lucky. But in countries with lax judges and/or a high crime rate...

The point stands, in countries where criminals run rampant, u should protect yourself even more, by that i mean, dont stay out late, dont go into dark allies at night. Do everything u can to keep yourself safe. Thats the point. Dont just say imma do it cuz i have the right lol Cuz reality often doesnt care about your rights lol

Yes, I completely agree with you. It's one of the symptoms of individualistic societies. People are always refocusing on their rights. My main point was that we shouldn't absolve politicians and judges of responsibility. People shouldn't always have to be hyper-vigilant. That's no way to live. Especially for women and children. I say this because in France, we're seeing increasingly absurd situations.
