The same way he can control the whole population to attack people with some semblance of accuracy, he doesn't seem to need to see them to control them, maybe through his ability he can just always feel the positions of his strings, and by extension whoever he's touching via the strings

And the giants in Impel Down. There's a lot of luck, but it's not all luck, the giants in Impel Down at least was entirely on him, he told them the story of their captains (back in little garden) and made them believe him by acting and laughing like the captains, so I will give him at least that one being less about luck

Doflamingo is far stronger than Luffy and Law. As things stand, he is the third most powerful character in the arc, behind Fujitora and Sabo. Luffy needs to think of something indeed xD Usopp does indeed have a special connection with giants. He vowed to become a brave warrior of the sea thanks to Dorry and Brogy. He promised himself that he would one day go to Elbaf. He also befriended the giants from Enies Lobby. That he earned the respect of the giant aiming to become the King of Elbaf is the logical next step.

As for Bellamy, he might seem foolish, but when you really think about it, his perspective is understandable. He has idolized Doffy since childhood; in his eyes, Doffy is the god of the North Blue—the ultimate role model for any pirate with a mafia-like mentality. He spent his whole life hoping to join Doffy's crew. Doffy kept that hope alive for—what?—10 years? Yet the truth is, he never respected Bellamy—for the very same reason that led Luffy to refuse to fight him on Jaya: "Pirates without dreams or ambition are contemptible." (especially those who take pride in it). Let's also add that Bellamy hasn't had a crew since he went to Skypiea. They all died during the trip. So there's no one left in his life except Doffy. Now, Dofflamingo reveals to Bellamy that he never intended to welcome him into the "Family" and is actually trying to get rid of him without doing the dirty work himself. Bellamy is utterly devastated and no longer knows who he is. The only goal he ever had—serving Doffy—has vanished. So, he clings to it, even though he knows it makes no sense. If Luffy calls Bellamy his friend, it is obviously because that is a trait inherent to the typical, kind-hearted Shonen hero. But if we look at the character's internal logic, it is also because he senses Bellamy's distress and his desire to find a purpose in life. Luffy respects that, so he wants to reach out and offer his friendship. By calling him a friend, Luffy is offering him freedom (as always). You are right that there is no personal history between Luffy and Doflamingo. And I think that is why Oda brought Bellamy into the mix. He is a character known to both Luffy and Doffy. Now, freeing him from Doffy's grip becomes a goal in itself. He already wanted to liberate Dressrosa from Doffy, but now it has become more personal.

Yea, its a crazy story when u think about it. But Doffy is missing one thing, Bellamy went to Skipea and he lost his crew but he finally gained that dream mentality, cuz he was proven wrong. Skypiea does exist and its beautiful. Thats when a bond between him and Luffy sparked. I think Luffy recognized the difference Bellamy's heart holds now. He is a dreamer now. Doffy failed to recognize that.

Nicholas Kent

Yeah, that's what I meant in the paragraphs I added xD Luffy recognizes Bellamy as a pirate now—not just some common outlaw with no goal. But hey, Doffy is mean and petty, whereas Luffy is kind and open to the world. Simple as that.

AccordingToLucky

Yea, didnt see u added it! But yea, we agree! It is as simple as that. Plus Doffy isnt a normal pirate either. He said he would become anything to achieve his goal. So he isnt a true pirate in his heart, he is just using that title like he uses everything in his life.

Nicholas Kent

Absolutely. That said, it's the same for all pirates. Being a pirate is not a profession; it's an outlaw status. Everyone who became one did so because society did not suit them. They therefore decided to defy the law in order to change the world according to their own values and egos.

Krowft

Yes, no idea why I wrote Impel Down, I was thinking of Enies Lobby, thanks :)

You know funny enough there is something I’d like to add to this about my perspective on why Bellamy is doing this, but the infinitely better time to do it is on ep 720 so… imma be waiting a while 😆
