The pacing at the end of this arc was a bit better in the manga, since the anime tended to drag out so many scenes back then—though, honestly, not by much. Anyway, adapting one chapter per episode was just awful. Pica... I repeat again: WHAT A FRAUD! What was the point of that character? Seriously. It was really hard to like Pica, Trebol, and Diamante. The officers serving under them were far more interesting. And Law was supposed to become the new Corazon?? Really?? Talk about an abysmal power gap between him and the other three! He certainly would have been less good if he’d stayed with them, but still...

Haven’t read this part of the manga in years, but can you clarify for me if part of the reason it’s better paced is because the manga doesn’t cut back to the other fights? I seem to recall especially with the whole Bellamy thing that it went “he attacks Luffy, then we had the conclusions of all the other fights, and then the conclusion to the Bellamy thing”, or am I wrong about that?

I just took a look at the manga. The pacing is clearly better. Of course, it felt much longer back then because we had to wait for the weekly chapter releases. Still, though! All the fights are there in the same order, but they wrap up much faster
