Fuji can’t cut the cage cause he not a conqueror like doffy, keep in mind how stacked doffy kit is

Nghi Nguyen

In Marineford, Mihawk failed to cut Buggy. The Whitebeard pirates could not stop Akainu’s meteor rain. It’s not only about Haki, but the nature of their fruits.

Yeah: I maintain Fujitora not being able to cut the Birdcage is one of those times where it really is just down to plot and Oda writing himself into a corner because he needs the cage to not be destroyed just yet. (Also: looks like I need to quickly look through your reactions to the OP eps Ive missed lol)

Trust me, admirals are much stronger than Doffy, I think the fact that Fujitora can't break the birdcage is indeed pure plot. Tbh some people even call the birdcage "plotcage"

Nicholas Kent

Doffy definitely isn't stronger than Fujitora and Sabo. No way. It’s just plot. Luffy has to save Dressrosa, not them. It’s as simple as that. Because if we assume the Birdcage is a special attack that’s indestructible—even for people stronger than Doffy—then why wouldn't Fujitora and Sabo just wreck Doffy instead of wasting time with Burgess or trying to stop the Birdcage? And why does Doffy waste time with Violet and Rebecca when he should be doing everything he can to take out the only person who can stop him? Even the fact that nobody dies in that city—that’s just plot.

I'm not entirely sure about that. Remember that Fuji called down a whole damn meteor and Doffy cut it with ease, without even needing conqueror's haki which I'm sure Fuji doesn't have at all. I'm sure Fuji can beat Doffy, but the birdcage itself could be a specialized technique that's incredibly hard to cut through even by stronger opponents, which might explain why it takes a whole hour to close as it's even difficult for Doffy to move it, but that doesn't mean Doffy is stronger. In a real fight the birdcage wouldn't stop Fuji even though he can't cut it, because he would be able to kill Doffy himself during that hour, and his gravity fruit can probably be used across the birdcage if he needed to attack him from the outside.

Fujitora wanted to prove that the World Government could not rely on the Seven Warlords of the Sea to protect people. If an Admiral stepped in to fix everything, the Marines would take the credit and cover up the crisis, just like they did in Alabasta. He deliberately held back his full power and placed the nation's survival in the hands of Monkey D. Luffy. So i just assume he put his trust in luffy in defeating Doflamingo and that's why he didn't cut the cage but just held it. (I guess it is plot XD)

Been away in a little hiatus, just catching up now, but I'd like to add that I don't think 1 attack is enough to judge who is stronger. I believe Fujitora is stronger than Doflamingo, but Doflamingo's birdcage attack is too strong for him to cut (I explain a bit in my reply to Mike G. M. below) But let's look at another character, the King with the KING PUNCH. That punch is incredibly strong, no one has shown that a properly charged punch is weak, and it's likely that it would even hurt an emperor (though it wouldn't defeat them) But the character himself is not that strong compared to many at this level in the grand line, even the other fighters he's with could beat him, that's why he has guards while he's charging his punch, he's not incredibly strong except for 1 attack. Also, Usopp, literally every opponent he beats is stronger than him, even sugar actually has better fighting strength and ability (she was able to defeat the really strong and really fast Tontattas easily), but Usopp relies on not only trickery, but on having a few strong attacks that he deploys at just the right moment, when other factors help make his attack better in order to finish his opponents for the most part, but he almost always looses to them at first because he's not stronger. So I don't really see that Doffy having 1 attack that is actually incredibly powerful (though not an insta-kill, really slow, and probably very tiring), that is able to stop opponents that are stronger than him, means that Doffy is actually stronger. As I said in my other reply, if Fuji wanted to fight Doffy directly, he could probably beat him, even with the birdcage, he could ignore the birdcage if he was inside and he could probably still fight him with his gravity if he was outside, he just would not be able to destroy the birdcage directly very easily.
