AMAZING REACTION AND AMAZING FIRST SEASON I watched this show very early when I first started anime and I enjoyed it. Then when season 2 was about to come out they released the directors cut where every ep is compiled to 1 hour long eps and I rewatched it to remind myself and hype up for s2. I ended up loving it so much more the 2nd time and caught so many more details and it ended up being my favorite anime and still is. A lil info here too, originally s1 was meant to advertise the light novel and they made it for the sole purpose of being one season and done and finished. What they didn't expect was how popular it would become and so they just had to continue it for s2 and now we have 4 seasons today with s4 ending next week. Season 1 to 2 took almost 4 years. What sucks about s2 is that majority of it was produced right when the biggest wave of covid hit and so they were struck with a bunch of delays and production issues. In the end s2 was released but know that they faced a lot of challenges just to get it out there. They even showed so much love that they would cut ad breaks and skip op/ed a lot to extend episodes for s2. That's how much the studio cares for this show.

The first season of the anime covers 3 arcs from the novels and here are the titles Arc 1: The Tumultuous First Day (covers from subaru being summoned to after Elsa is defeated and subaru is taken to the mansion.) Arc 2: The Turbulent Week (covers from subaru waking up in the mansion to after he saved rem and village from the beasts in the forest) Arc 3: Return to the Royal Capital (covers essentially everything else up to the end of s1)

Agree so much. I have seen people react to that line as a post-credit somehow, and it just works so fantastically as a cliffhanger.

Unfortunately by process of elimination, that means whats up next is Arc 4: which is going to drive me insane. (Literally almost considered dropping the series because I loathed the first half of the next arc so much. Luckily it gets enough after that.)

I know things are going to be busy for you with all the new Shonen stuff coming out soon, but as someone that has been actively watching some *very* much non-Shonen series over the last couple weeks: I really can’t wait until I can get you to watch some of those shows too lol. Little bit annoyed this version didn’t have the after-credits scene: As I said to Rafael: I know you will see it at the start of Season 2, but it just works so fantastically as a season finale cliffhanger XD

I’d say you have quite an unpopular opinion amongst the rezero fandom. Arc 6 is the fan favorite and from what I can tell arc 4 is probably the runner up to that. I personally really enjoyed s2 and thought the story beats were great etc. It’s just a shame that the arc is very long in the novels and got cut down a lot to fit 24 eps. I’m curious to find out what you didn’t like about it

That’s because you were watching the original version of s1 lucky and not the directors cut. The directors cut added it to hype up s2 but it’s fine either way

Yea, heard it'll be at the start of s2. But im sad for the people that wanted to see it now lol

Wording it in a way that minimises spoilers for Lucky: the stuff I hate is all the stuff thats really happening. I feel like a lot of the reason this arc gets praise from people is other stuff, and I will admit, those parts are awesome. But everything else, especially one new characters introduced? Genuinely can’t stand, and I utterly loathe whoever somehow made them worse in the transition from Web Novel to Light Novel. (Not to say that the Web Novel was “good”, but they were at least slightly more bearable) Also fwiw: my personal top 3 arcs would be 9, 6, 8 in that order :)

Im not sure exactly what moments you’re talking about or which character but I’d like to hear when we eventually get there with lucky. I haven’t read arc 4 but from what I’ve seen on the internet the elitists mostly enjoy the web novel version more but I don’t know how they differ from each other. I personally overall enjoyed all of arc 4 in the anime and can totally see how people might not like the location or how long it is but I personally like it. I also can’t really pick any favorite arcs cuz I just have a hard time picking one over the other but from a writing standpoint I prolly enjoy s2 more than s1.
