This fight actually pissed me off, ngl. I get the perspective of someone calling Luffy "pure" and "honorable", but in the context of how capable Fujitora is, Luffy announcing himself to his opponent just seems patronizing and borderline ableist. Like, bitch, he has Observation Haki that allows him to functionally see.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Luffy announcing his attacks to Fujitora either. So, would Luffy tie one arm behind his back if he ever had to face Shanks? That's ridiculous But it doesn't matter; neither of them is going all-out right now. Precisely because they like each other. If Fujitora really wanted to capture Luffy, he would have done it days ago. And if Luffy really wanted to defeat Fujitora, he’d use Gear 4 (though let’s be clear: that wouldn't be nearly enough)

A lot of people forget that ultimately Luffy doesn't care about anything like that, he only cares about what he wants to do. If he wanted to be racist he would be, he just doesn't want to. He wants to value and protect his friends so he does. He reminds us every time he says "I'm not a hero"; Luffy is actually the ultimate selfish being, not altruistic or caring in the slightest, he just happens to want to be good in general, so he is. When he was looking for Camie who was being sold as a slave he went into a smaller slave shop to find her and just completely left all the slaves there alone, he didn't even try one bit to rescue them even though it would have been 0 effort, because he actually doesn't care, even slavery doesn't bother him lol Camie was his friend, that's it. He wants to treat blind people the way he feels comfortable, whether he's ablelist or not, even if they don't like it. It's a perspective that's easy to overlook, but he's not very different from a lot of the bad pirates in the sense that he will do what he wants no matter the consequences, the world is literally just lucky that he doesn't want to be evil. Any time you see him helping strangers, like Dresrosa and it's citizens, realise that he is actually doing it because he wants to help a friend specifically, so he includes everyone else as part of that objective. If Rebecca didn't give him food and Law didn't want to beat Doffy (he probably views Law like a friend now), and Franky didn't want to help the Tontattas, he would have left Dresrosa after getting the Flame fruit and destroying the factory.
