yeeaaa he cut his own nose so that now his own face is the mask itself. He fucking crazyyyyyy. Sure his philosophy about true heros vs heros who only do it for a job is interesting but he is still a nutcase

So I’ll be honest; I knew that Stains backstory was part of this show. I did not expect that it would take place in the first 10 eps lol. As for what actually was going on with his philosophy: the way I understand it, old-Stains philosophy was not a mirror to his MHA philosophy, but more tangential, but they both actually stem from the same concept that All Might and people like him are the only truly good people and the ones that deserve peace and happiness. For old Stain, acting out of any sort of pure self-interest meant you were evil, and the reason he saw Bee Girl as someone willing to team up with is that she convinced him the drug was something that would show who people truly were. So even though the Spike-guy turned down the Trigger offer, after he was injected by force, his first instinct was to lash out at the people he saw as ‘mocking’ him, hence Stain talked about him showing his ‘true colours’ After his fight with the old guy however, the line about ‘people act different when they where a mask’ made it so is philosophy slightly flipped. It’s still the same core concept, however where old-Stain believes that people that were openly selfish were the worst kind, that conversation changed him to believing that the bigger problem were the ones that were selfish is private, but selfless in public. I.e.: Self-Serving Heroes.
