What a fantastic year 2021 was! We spent the whole year head down in Hot Dog magic – fighting dicks and fleeing Beezbos, catching murderers and watching cowboys get CTE.** It’s been plainly wonderful in every single way. And now, to poke our heads out and check how the year went for literally everything not Hot Dog…

Haha wow, okay. You guys really fucked that all up, huh?

Well, there’s a good new rule: Never check on anything.

Let’s break it right away with our very last podcast of the year, which is all about following up on huge 1900🌭 moments. It features rakish author and substack roustabout Jason Pargin!

1900🌭’s mission statement is to find and mock ridiculous things, and our work ends there. But if we were real journalists, we would have looked a little harder and told you about the insane stories behind a few of this year’s biggest Hot Dog finds. So we did that! That’s what this podcast is!

This is your absolute last chance to subscribe in 2021, and if you don’t get busy right now you’ll never be able to say you reviewed the Dogg Zzone 9000 this year.

*Fun Fact: The ‘C’ stands for CONK!

**Less Fun Fact: The ‘T’ and ‘E’ still stand for traumatic encephelopathy.

I'm still dealing with the fallout of learning the True Meaning of Xmas but soon I'm going to listen to the fuck out of this. It sounds a treat!

While we're correcting stories, can we please stop referring to the Jonestown victims as suicides? They were deprived of food and sleep for months while being brutally overworked until they didn't understand anything but fear, and then forced to drink the cyanide Flavor-Aid at gunpoint. Not all of them did and the holdouts were shot.

Chuck Austen, if his growth/change is real and not a cynical cash grab, is indeed a very heartwarming story of a person's ability to become better. I keep expecting to hear some new awful thing about him, but so far I am pleasantly surprised.

Goodbye Godek I'm flying over you

Is it weird that I want to see the books Seanbaby describes as useful? Maybe one day he can do a book game or article where you have to pick advice from both

I'm with Jason. I took basic college algebra thrice. and only passed due to the extreme pity of what must have been the saddest algebra instructor at a college.

Joshua Graves

This was actually very insightful. I feel genuinely edified.

I'd like the story of whoever Flavor-Aid presumably paid to get the media to refer to Kool-Aid. However much they were paid, it wasn't enough.

"Never Check On Anything" is one of the many rules I refuse to follow, because I am a dashing rebel.

DeltaFoxtrot

Oh, so I got that going for me. They should come in handy by the lakes of brimstone

I'll check on anything that holds my attention. But I can't promise I won't get distracted by the time I go to google

It's amazing that Flavor-Aid still exists. I always thought Jonestown killed it, but no. It's still out there, laughing up its low-price generic sleeve.

I genuinely love those moments where Jason feels like a very tired agent desperately pleading for his last remaining clients to stop getting in the way of him promoting them. "Please, I'm begging you, it's been 55 episodes and you still haven't told the audience the URL of your website, you've promoted more murderers socials than your own, just give me five seconds to plug your content". Immediately drowned out by heated discussion of a Care Bear Kumite.
