So here are my current thoughts on where to focus next on this project.

• Goblin area rework:  This would be a matter of bringing this area up to the same level as the tavern.  The goblin area is still operating with the old dialogue system.  It would need the new item pick up graphic too.  I would also apply the way the game logic is handled  in the tavern to this area as well.

Currently if you get caught by goblins again you just repeat this scenario over and over.  There should be some variation I think.  Or maybe just an even simpler escape scenario with the same theme of being captured by goblins.  So if the player is going to have to go through a repetitive event it will at least be mercifully short.

•Expand the Tavern scenario: The Tavern is currently "done".  It can be played through and the player gets most of the experience and can move on (once it's attached properly to the rest of the game.)

You may have noticed that you never really see the owner again after the tavern intro.  Or suffer any consequences for raising too much suspicion.  Other than the inconvenience of being forced to work for a day before resuming snooping around.

I teased a little of what might happen in the recent update.  The idea is you raise too much suspicion, get caught, searched, and then thrown into confinement.  At that point you have to make an escape from there.  I don't really plan on it being too involved.

I've seen some other comments on how to expand concepts in the tavern though.  Some more involved than others.  Those could possibly be used if we want to really expand this zone.  And we can always come back to this later on and improve it if we want.

• Dungeon and boss fight:  The dungeon is already laid out and can be played through.  There is no boss and there aren't any enemies though.  Those would be the primary things to finish before this could be published.

I'd like to say this would the quickest one since I've done work on it ahead of time.  But to be honest I'm not too sure how making a boss will turn out.  Enemies until now have been the very very simple goblins.  It'll be a big challenge and I have no clue how it will turn out.  I think we'll have to face that challenge sooner or later.

• More exploration of the forest area:  It's intended for there to be more secrets to find in areas around the map.  There are none currently.  Primarily because the game systems are still fairly primitive and the way you interact with the world are pretty simple.  I think the most exciting thing we can do is push objects.

So for this to be enjoyable we'd have to start developing items and other objects to interact with and open these secret paths.  As for the secrets themselves, currently we'd only be looking at health, move speed, and attack upgrades.  We'd have to create some more interesting things to find out there too.

• New capture scenario/or new area:  The other thing we can do is just move on to another capture scenario.  That could simply be an event happening in the forest that takes you to another contained area (like the tavern currently is) or whatever we want really.  A new area to explore would also include a new set of adversaries to fight and new capture scenario.

• General Systems:  Adding things like a proper menu, save system, and I'd like to add some sound settings as well.  Possibly a gallery for viewing animations and scenes.  I think these things will be coming in time on their own, the gallery would be further away than others.  But these can be pushed to the front if that is preferred.

Those are currently my thoughts on where to move ahead on this project.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  I think we'll do a poll for this, maybe today.  Or tomorrow.  I'll think things through a bit and see if I can think of any other issues in pursuing any of these.

Are you thinking of overhauling combat system in forest area ?

TDMBP

No plans for that. Adjustments to knockback and hitboxes are always on the table though.
