Here is a printable of a solitary ritual for Litha, Midsummer and the Summer Solstice! I’ve typed up the ritual here on this post, too, in case you didn’t want to download the PDF file. You can find the digital download in the attachments section on this post!

Materials:

  • Flowers (Gathered or purchased)
  • Crystals
  • Candles
  • Guided meditation (optional)
  • Essential oils and diffuser (optional)

Litha, also known as the Summer Solstice or Midsummer, is on June 20th in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest day and shortest night of the year. The sun is at its highest point on this day. The sun and fire are main focuses in activities celebrating the summer solstice.

First, gather flowers that are either wild or purchased. You can choose the types of flowers and colors that you are drawn to or correspond to Litha. For instance, flowers that are red, yellow, and orange would correspond to the sun's energy like dandelions, roses, sunflowers, zinnias, marigolds, and buttercups! It's ideal to do this ritual before the sun comes up. So right before you decide to do your ritual, you may want to diffuse a Litha Essential Oil Blend before beginning. (Remember, this is optional! You can customize this by burning candles, incense, etc) An essential oil blend to try is: 4 drops of orange, 3 drops of rose and 2 drops of patchouli. Other oils to try to create your own blends with are frankincense, bergamot, lavender, peppermint, rosemary, lime, etc.

Next, arrange the flowers, or the flower petals, you have in a circle on the floor or ground around you. Place your candles around you, (if you have them!) Color correspondences for candles for Litha are red, gold, yellow, green and white. Place your crystals (if you have them!) around you, as well, or in the center. Choose crystals that you are drawn to or that correspond with Litha. Crystals that correspond are tiger's eye, sunstone, red carnelian, citrine, etc.

Sit in your circle and put on your guided meditation that resonates with you. These could be found through various apps or YouTube videos. There's many categories for you to choose what resonates with you. Do this while the sun starts to rise and feel the energies of the summer solstice. Try to get a view of the sun rising whether you are outside or inside. If you do not have a guided meditation, that's okay! Meditation with the feelings of the summer solstice! Think about the energies of fire, abundance, fertility and the meanings of Litha. Welcome this energy, cleanse negative feelings with the healing energy of the summer solstice, and meditate on gratitude. After you are done meditating, go out and celebrate! Dance in your circle, go out in the sun, turn on some music, have a bonfire, make a flower crown, do some yoga poses, etc!
