With Hurricane Elsa coming, some of you were interested in ways to use storm water! Are you in an area where there are tropical storms or hurricanes? Here is a compilation of various articles that has very useful information for you on ways to use storm water. Storm magic serves the primary purposes of cleansing and charging. Storms can include all of the elements, depending upon the type of storm and its overall strength. Since storm water contains the energies of thunder and lightening, it works well for protection, warding and binding spells. Use your storm water for banishing; for honoring the Divine; to honor and regenerate yourself; for justice spells; and for spells for success. Sprinkle it in areas that you wish to protect. And use it in any water-based magical formula, such as elixirs and potions. Just don’t drink it! You don’t know what kind of nasties the rain water washed up into your jar.

Storm water is often used in curses to created negative situations for others. It can also be used to create a positive outcome. Use it in a spell to allow yourself to be able to express emotions, instead of hiding them. If you’re having money problems, copy a bank statement, or use fake money, and pour storm water on it, with the intent to change your financial situation. Place it in a bowl to use during meditation to gain certain powers or knowledge.

You can make Storm Water in several ways, including:

- Collect rain water that falls during the storm and bottle it for later use.

- Collect hail or snow in a jar and let it melt to use for later.

- Pour spring or filtered water into a jar and place it out to charge during a storm.

- If possible, after a hurricane, you could even go to the beach and collect some of the beach water if it’s legal for your area.. And don’t forget the shells! They hold magickal properties just like stones do!

- Visualize yourself as part of the storm, which will allow you to tap into its energy. Use black, grey or indigo colored candles to set the mood for merging storm energies.

- Place other items outside to soak up the furious energy of the storm. Your magical jewelry, for example, will be cleansed and charged through the raw energy of the storm. Likewise, your crystals and gemstones will benefit. If a thunderstorm occurs during the Full Moon, charge all of your tools! Just be careful to not lose them or let them get washed away!

Adapt the Storm Water to suit your own magical workings. Add sea salt if you’re a Sea Witch. Add sugar if you would like to involve the Fae. Add pepper and it becomes Fire Water, which is great for protection spells.

Storm Water Boost Spell:

You will need:

- pebbles

- rain water

- air from your lungs

- a glass jar

Place the pebbles in the bottom of the jar and fill about half way with rain or storm water. Breathe into the jar. You are the gusting, howling wind. Place your hands on either side of the jar, envisioning sparks from your finger tips. You are the evanescent lightning. Hear the thunder from your heart. You are the storm. Seal the jar and keep it where you can see it. Shake when a boost is needed.

Storm water is also really versatile, you can use it in a bunch of different types of spell castings and such. Like if you’re a sea witch you can add salt to it to symbolize Storms over the Ocean. Adding hot sauce or alcohol turns it into fire water which is good against warding/cursing people.

As for charging a sigil/charm when there is lightning: First off be careful if there is a lightning storm, while its cool to go out in it and be all witchy you have to remember your basic safety and such. I’ve personally never charged anything in the lightning like what you’re asking but I would assume that you can leave the sigil or charm on the windowsill to soak in the energy of the storm. You could probably do this for crystals too and have stored up storm energy while practicing.
