With the weather starting to warm up, the sun staying out longer and Ostara this weekend.. there's some more energy to add to the mix! With the spring vibes of the Full Worm Moon in earthy Virgo on March 18th at 3:17 A.M. ET (12:17 A.M PT), you might get the urge to kick start your spring cleaning. The spiritual meaning behind this full moon is to focus on achieving your goals with a more analytical lens. You've done your reflection and fantasizing during Pisces season, now it's take to put those plans into action!
The Worm Moon got its name from the Farmer's Almanac because of the earthworms that make their appearance with the beginning of spring. Some of the other names for this moon are the Sugar Moon, which refers to the sugar of the maple sap, and the Lenten moon, which occurs when this March lunation happens before the spring equinox.
This full moon essentially wants you to "get your shit together". The energy of Virgo carries a lot of rational, nourishing and organizational themes, so this would be the prime time to clear out any toxicity that you've been carrying. Whether it's negative thoughts, emotional baggage or relationships that are just not beneficial to you, the Virgo full moon wants you to take charge and release what's no longer serving you. With the watery emotions brought on by Pisces season, use this lunation to embrace the grounding and commutative Virgo energy to work your way through them.
If you’ve been off track with your self-care and wellness routine, now would be the time to get back into it! Self-care rituals can be as simple or elaborate as you’d like. A simple idea could be to get outside and connect with nature or put on your favorite playlist. An elaborate idea could be to draw yourself a self-care bath with your favorite beverage, crystals, candles and book. Ask yourself if there’s anything you could change in your wellness routine? How does your current one make you feel?
There will be a mixture of the dreamy Pisces vibes and practical Virgo energy during this lunation. According to Nina Kahn from Bustle,
"The moon will be sitting opposite to a hazy alignment of the sun and dreamy Neptune, and this cosmic combo could be a little disorienting; it heightens our sensitivities and makes it hard to see things clearly. On the bright side, this aspect can help us tap into our creativity and compassion, so we should fully embrace those very Piscean qualities. Additionally, an empowering connection with intense planet Pluto gives this lunation a transformative edge, too. We have access to deep strength now, and we can use it to bolster our full moon intentions."
With the mixture of spring fever and the zodiac sign of Virgo, you may feel the urge to do some deep cleaning, too. You may get a burst of motivation to clean your altar, organize your closet, rearrange your space or give yourself a spiritual cleansing. There are a variety of rituals you can do that are simple to give yourself a quick reset. Some examples are cleansing yourself with a selenite wand, bathing under the moonlight and visualization techniques. Do what feels best for you!
According to Brittany Beringer from Bustle,
"Accompanying the March full moon is a harmonious sextile aspect between the sun in dreamy Pisces and Pluto stationed in hardworking and industrious Capricorn, adding a shot of espresso to your ambitions and dreams in your professional life. With major earth influences supercharging this lunation, it’s an ideal time to channel your inner CEO and take initiative in all areas of life, including your relationships, friendships, and public image."
In conclusion, the detail-oriented Virgo full moon is all about getting organized, putting things back in order and release anything that's holding you back from achieving and getting closer to your dreams you were making during Pisces season!
Rituals for the Full Worm Moon in Virgo
Here are some rituals you can do to harness this energy of the Full Worm Moon in Virgo! You can writing in your journal, cleanse and organize, plant seeds and nourish yourself with some self-care.
Some journal topics you can reflect and write about are:
How can I forgive myself and others with more ease?
In what ways can I be more organized? How is my space? Does it need rearranging to release stagnant energy? How much clutter am I holding on to mentally and physically?
How can I help others more? Could I contribute to my friends, family, partner or community in a more meaningful way?
How can I nourish myself? (Could I stretch more frequently? Could I add more greens, vegetables and fruit to my diet? Could I get more creative with my eating habits? Could I reduce my salt or sugar intake? Could I move a little bit more?)
What heaviness could I release to lighten my mood and raise my frequency?
What type of self care do I enjoy to recharge?
Am I giving too much of myself to others? Is this why I feel so drained?
Am I making space to receive abundance and my manifestations?
A few more simple rituals you can do for this lunation is start a garden and try earthing! You could create a windowsill garden or start thinking about one you want to do outside. There are so many benefits of earthing, as well, because it allows you to connect with the earth on a deeper level and keeps you grounded. It also helps you align with the Earth's frequency (which we talked about before in a previous post on Patreon about Schumann's Resonance!) Alternative ways to ground yourself are practicing meditation, using calming incense and essential oils and work with grounding crystals, such as smoky quartz and tiger's eye.
Here is a simple tarot spread I enjoyed from Davy and Tracy:
"The tarot card associated with Virgo is The Hermit (IX). The hermit archetype is about stepping away from the crowd and looking inward for answers.
Sometimes, we need a quiet stillness to tap into our own inner-wisdom and guidance. Now is not the time to doubt our higher self and get caught up in the conflicting opinions of others, who only project their own fears and beliefs onto us.
The Hermit signals that we know our truth, but we need to take a “time out” to take care of ourselves and quiet our surroundings, so that we can tune in.”
There are two ways to go about this tarot spread.
1.) Find the Hermit card in your deck by spreading them out. The card behind it is what you need to release and the card in front of it is what you can receive.
2.) Find the Hermit card in your deck and place it on your altar or in front of you. Shuffle your deck or choose a card facing down you are drawn to and place on the left side of your Hermit card. This is what you need to release. Repeat that process and place this card on the right side of your Hermit card. This is what you can receive.
