Here are some resources that give you a variety of ways to cut karmic ties during a lunar eclipse. You can still do this ritual after the Eclipse, too, since the energy of the eclipse could be felt for up to 3 days!

This Lunar Eclipse will heighten your emotions and intuition. This might seem scary, but it is meant to help you navigate the waters of this energy. Allow yourself to be guided by your intuition and your heart during this time. While your emotions and intuition are heightened during these intense times, don’t forget to take time to relax and savor the sweetness that surrounds you.

For this Full Moon Ritual, we have decided to focus on cutting karmic ties that might be holding us back from reaching our true potential. Doing it on or around the event of the lunar eclipse can help give us clarity and direction.

As we evolve and grow in life we will be faced with the inevitable need to “let go.” This could mean letting go of objects, places, people, or emotions we have held onto. Letting go will help create the proper space for us to grow into what we want to become.

Signs of Unhealthy Cords:

Feeling fatigued or low on energy all the time.

Unexplained sadness or depression.

Feelings of being stuck. Not being able to make decisions.

Holding harsh judgements over others or yourself.

Obsessing over others or past wounds

Unhealthy addictions or habits.

We create spiritual and emotional attachments all the time. When we connect with others, especially in an intimate or sexual way. In fact those types of cords can be very draining to us even after we have severed the physical connection. These ties or “cords” can drain us without us even realizing it is happening!

5 Ways to Cut Karmic Ties

1.) Visualization

A cord cutting ritual will not cut off the cords from those who you are meant to be connected to, but it will help cut off the negative flow and restore the cords to a healthy state.

We will also be removing and revitalizing the old stagnant and useless/needless cords that might be draining your energy without your knowledge, and those that are within your knowledge.

You don't need to even know what or who it is you are releasing! Trust you higher self and your guides to help you release the cords that are needed.

Many people call in the energy and entity of Arch Angel Michael (or Metatron) to help support a cord cutting ceremony. He is the wielder of the Sword of Violet Flame, but you don't have to call upon him for this to work.

This is a very simple but powerful and effective method of cutting the cords that bind.

1. Sit in a quiet comfortable place undisturbed. Dim the lights, turn on some soft music, turn your phone on silent, etc. A salt bath would be perfect for this ritual, but you can do it while in bed or simply sitting and meditating.

2. Relax and take some deep breaths. Center yourself and ground your energy. You can hold a black crystal like jet, tourmaline, or onyx as you do this to help keep your grounded.

3. Call in or evoke your personal guide, or Archangel Michael in whatever way you'd like. Having a guide or an etheric mediator can be helpful for this ritual. This allows you to trust in the process and allow the healing to take place on deeper levels while you focus on your breathing and visualizing. Some choose to say the name out-loud, others visualize their teacher or "feel" their presence. This is up to you.

4. Once you feel the presence of your chosen guide, with your eyes closed, begin to imagine a blue violet flame begin to glow and grow around your physical body.

5. Shift your awareness to your inner self. Feel the Violet Flame glow and grow inside of you. Growing in accordance to your breathing, getting bigger with each breath.

6. As this flame gets brighter and bigger, it begins at your root chakra and slowly spirals up your body. As the flame "touches" your body, allow your imagination to "feel" what it might feel like. This could be a cold or a warm sensation depending on every individual. Imagine this Violet Flame creep and crawl up your body/aura. As it does this, it is burning away the toxic and stale cords and filling them all with golden light of forgiveness, love and healing.

You don't have to do a thing or think of anyone right now. Your job isn't to feel love, or to focus on forgiveness. Just visualize the Violet Flame engulfing your energetic and physical body.

7. When the Flame finally reaches your Third Eye and Crown Chakra begin to brighten the flame and allow it to fully engulf you from the inside out. You may visualize actual cords, vines, ink, filth, etc being burned away and dissolved completely during this time. Freely give up all debris and as much darkness as possible. Allow it to be transformed and transmuted. All that has served it's purpose is transmuted at this time.

8. With the Violet Flame all around you and inside of your being, allow this eternal and infinite flame to expand outward to your entire house, your road, town, state/province, country and outward. Allow your focus to expand to all of humanity and the collective conscious and wrap it in the Violet Flame. The flame is burning and transmuting fear, negativity, bigotry, racism, sexism, judgement and all other lower vibrations that are no longer serving humanity as a whole.

9. When you feel complete in this process, slowly bring your focus back to your home and your body. Allow the flame to drop and diminish as slow as needed. Once the flame is down to coals move your fingers, your toes and allow the coals to go out, knowing that you can always stoke the Violet Flame again when needed.

10. Thank your guide/mediator for their assistance and stand up when you are ready. Move your body around. Drink a lot of water and eat light meals after this. Smudge the space you were in with sage, and open some windows for fresh air.

This Ritual may have seemed simple to some, and more powerful to others.. but remember, it broke down many barriers and will continue to ripple through out time for quite a while. This ritual has a healing effect on not only yourself and those you released, but it has an effect on the whole of humanity.

2.) Salt Baths

Salt is a wonderful energy neutralizer! It is a ritual we often recommend on this blog because even though it might seem simple, it can be very powerful with proper intention.

Add pink himalayan salt, epsom salts or one of the blends we have mentioned here. As you soak in the tub, make a clear intention that you are washing away and clearing the cords. Visualize the cords softening in the water, dissolving and going down the drain as you finish your bath ritual.

3.) Smoke Cleansing

Cleansing with smoke is another powerful way to clear any cords or energy that might be binding you right now. If you are using sage, be sure it came from an ethical source… but there are plenty of other herbs you can use!

There are plenty of herbs to choose from. Be sure to open windows or smoke cleanse outdoors. Visualize the cords dissipating with the smoke and disappearing into thin air.

4.) Cleansing With Fire

Fire is another great way to cleanse your energy and burn away ties that bind you! Burning intentions over a candle or over a fire can be very powerful.

If you are clearing ties with fire, you will need to journal or write out the ties you are wishing to clear.

As you burn them in the fire watch the flames and visualize your own inner fire burning away all the ties that bind you.

Imagine your inner fire cycle through each chakra clearing out what no longer serves you.

5.) Aura Cleansing Spray

This powerful little bottle will clear your aura from negativity in only a few sprays. Because it is smokeless, it can be used to cleanse the energy of cars, the work place and offices.

This spray can be used in place of using smoke. This little bottle will be both powerful and easy to make using essential oils, salt, and other ingredients you may already have!

Give it a good shake before each use. Spray all around your body to cleanse the aura visualizing the cords disappearing.

(The healing spray will clear negative energy in the home as well!)

There are so many ways to cut ties and clear karmic cords. With a clear intention, paired with the element of your choice, and visualization, you can add power to that intent and manifest your desires to clear away any toxic cords that are lingering.

Aura Cleansing Sprays:

1.) You will need:

2 oz glass spray bottle

10 drops sage essential oil

10 drops rosemary essential oil

30 drops lavender essential oil

5 drops palo santo essential oil

5 drops eucalyptus essential oil

2/3 distilled moon water (base)

1/3 vodka or grain alcohol (base)

20 drops black tourmaline gem elixir

Shake well before each use and discard unused portion after 6 months. Please use caution when handling essential oils and be mindful of allergies and drug interactions. Essential oils are very potent and can cause severe and adverse reactions in some people.

2.) What you’ll need:

Purified water (for the base of the spray)

A little rain water (for cleansing properties)

Rosemary (for cleansing, protection)

Sage (for cleansing)

Peppermint (for energy, prosperity, abundance)

Lavender (for stress relief, peace)

Salt (whatever kind you have will work)

Essential oil (whatever you want)

A colander or something to strain the water with

A pot

A stove to boil the water and herb mixture

An empty, clean spray bottle

What to do:

Begin by prepping your area. I made sure I had all of my ingredients laid out, turned on some relaxing music, and lit my working candle. Prepare your herbs by washing them and gently patting them dry if they’re fresh. If they’re not fresh, measure out how much you need.

Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat up to medium-high. Add your purified water and a splash of rain water. You only need enough to fill your bottle. I started off by adding some Himalayan pink salt (I associate it with love and protection). You don’t want to add too much salt if you plan on using this mixture to put on your walls or furniture. Add each herb into the mixture and bring to a boil.

While the heat is rising and the energy in the water is increasing, focus on your intent and charge the water. Once it begins to boil, take it off of the heat and let steep until the water is cool. At this point, I stood over the mixture and stirred in some of my personal power symbols. If you don’t have any of those or a sigil you’d like to use, simply stir clockwise to promote good feelings or counter-clockwise to banish negativity. It’s totally whatever you prefer.

Once it’s cooled down, strain the water and add to your bottle. You want to make sure it’s nice and cool so you don’t warp the plastic or let the plastic seep into the water. Now you can add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil and you’re done!

How to use:

For a quick cleansing effect, simply spray the area that needs cleansing and notice an immediate boost in the energy around you.

Need to strengthen your wards? Spray this on your doors and windows and visualize it coating the entire surface, creating a barrier between your home and outside surfaces.

Spray this in your carpet before vacuuming to get rid of whatever might be sticking in those pesky fibers!

The possibilities are endless!
