So yeah season 5 is very bitter sweet there is alot that i do genuinely like but this season being shorter than the other felt very rushed specially when it comes to the jack and ashi romance it needed more time and then the climax was also a bit rush as well. luckily if you play the Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time they were able to fix some of the issues season 5 especially the ending. and the game is consider cannon. According to an interview, the show's creator, Genndy Tartakovsky was initially disinterested and wanted nothing to do with the game, believing it to be a mediocre cash grab like the previous games Amulet of Time and Shadow of Aku. However, the game's publisher Adult Swim Games were quite insistent that developer Soleil could deliver a quality product. Soleil was a subsidiary of the Japanese video game developer Valhalla Game Studios at the time, with founder Tomonobu Itagaki serving as an advisor as one of his last games before his 2025 death. After being persuaded by the publisher, Tartakovsky enlisted Season 5 head writer Darrick Bachman to keep the game's writing authentic to the series and to write around the perimeters set by the game's publisher for the developers, which was to include elements from all 5 seasons. The story is considered a part of season 5 by the creators.

A lot's been said already but yeah, somewhere down the line I think the finale at least could've been a bit longer to flesh things out more. Overall I'm not THAT upset with the direction they intended to do, Jack going back was pretty much a concrete goal despite all his adventures and friends (who were currently dying in the final battle I might add) in the future. What annoyed me was the obvious emotional manipulation with Ashi fading away at a contrived moment, like sure kill her but do it like immediately after Aku's tower blows up and not do a poor man's GL (if you know you know). I also would've accepted Ashi being some time anomaly going back with Jack and, after Aku's defeat, the 'Aku' part leaves her but she remains maybe super nerfed or something. Battle Through Time alleviates that one gripe at least, and for all intents and purposes it's considered canon by CN, the devs, and perhaps Genndy even though he's never actually corrected anyone on if it is or not. Also in case you were still curious on the whole abandoned what-if with King Jack from the Guardian's portal, there's a comic about that. The SJ comics in general are pretty good. Scaramouche getting obliterated pretty much immediately after getting a new body is pretty funny though.

journey was dope the ending is a kick in the dick lol

None None

Remember that Aku threw Jack into the future out of desperation, because Jack had already fucked him up so badly that he couldn't even escape anymore. So when Jack pops back up 10 seconds after that, it's no surprise it only takes two hits to finish him.
