The people Kim has helped standing up to help her back is nice and all... But I'm paying a lot of attention to the images of Morningstar and young kim with the bandaged fingers near the old, small sword and broken china in the old house. Those images and scenes just keep repeating over and over, bringing us back to Azrael and Kim's mother Serena. Definitely feels like its all linked to the trauma Kim can't remember even after extinguishing the forging fire and opening the box to old feelings and memories.

I think I'm a more casual reader, I don't completely know the meaning of Morningstar and the other flashback panels, but having them there really adds something to this spread. Amazing page, I love this arc!

Loved the shadow being cast across Kim's diss, forming the border between panels. I mean I love your art all the time and should say so more, but I thought that was really cool!

The main thing to know is that there are no traces of Kim existing before the end of the Hob comic when Kim was in the hospital. Not only are there no records of her mother, Serena Ross, but her own father didn't know about a mother or her existence before 7 years ago and when asked to draw a picture of her mother she drew the rising/setting sun symbol (or an equation). Kim has noted that she appears to have some strange memories associated with her mother that suggests Kim suffered some kind of trauma she's suppressed. Yes, I should remember to note that Ling's own memories of being born in the Yucatan (which would be near Kim's home with Serena in the Borr valley) and seriously injured at age 13 before being taken to Nephilopolis would coincide with the same timeframe of Kim helping the crow and coming home black eyed. https://dresdencodak.com/2024/09/23/dark-science-153-monsters/ Also of note on that page is that Ling's friend called Azazel, died 7 years ago which would line up with Kusanagi/Yeong-Soo leaving Nephilopolis and the beginning of Kim's recorded existence --EDIT it would line up with Ling adopting the name Azazel, not necessarily Azazel dying
