Hmm. HMMMMMM! A thought that crossed my mind: could it be that when Kim shared her sensorium with Ling, she also shared/triggered whatever it is that allows her to "remember" reality and bypass dark science?

Not a bad theory! Though long before that happened, wayyy back in the last panel of DS #119, Ling is shown being able to wear Kim's hat!

So Ling fails to hold Kim's jacket in #100. That's in the middle of the discovery of how Dark Science works (the wormhole incident), and on #102 she comments that being around Kim is like "being shaken out of a dream," but no obvious physical triggers happen then. In #104, Kim gives her a custom arm that 'her brain has to talk to software directly, so it has to form new pathways'; and then they fall asleep together, and Kim dreams of Azra-El. There are no other obvious possible triggers between then and #119, just the Volo/Elith incident (Kim-focused), a couple pages focusing elsewhere, and then the day of travelling to Naglfar. Hmmmm...
