Ok! This effect took a bit more work than the others, simply because it's ...*checks notes* eight different particle effects piled on top of each other. Still needs a little timing adjustment but all the visual elements are there and a pretty decent match if I say so myself.

Here's the updated effects list:

  • Player trails (Done!)
  • Player shot destruction (Done!)
  • Player get hit (Done!)
  • Player ship destruction (Done!)
  • Enemy get hit (Done!)
  • Enemy damage flash (Done!)
  • Enemy shot destruction (Done!)
  • Enemy kill*
  • Boss/Core kill*
  • Hacking Entry effect
  • Hacking Exit effect
  • Core shield (Done!)
  • Core shield hit (Done!)

*Are up next. Shouldn't be too hard since they're basically just combinations of elements I've already made. I am NOT looking forward to the hacking entry and exit effects, they're going to need to be done in completely different ways and frankly, I'm not even sure where to start. On top of that, they'll need to be triggered in a different way since they're tied to the beginning/end of the hacking scenes. Hmmmm......I'm sure I'll figure out something.

Oh, one more thing, I'm trying really hard to have these done by the end of this month to get a new build out for my supporters that will include all of them. Worse case I'll stretch to december for the next build, and worst case I'll still release in december but it will just be missing a few effects.

Until then, thank you for your support!

Nier Automata Hacking Minigame in Unity 2D - Player Destruction

Working on a parody game of Nier Automata and I wanted to craft up a 2D version of the hacking minigame! It's also been a great way to learn more about Unity and C#. Here we have one of the largest effects of the game: what happens when the player ship gets destroyed! Support this project here! Thanks! Can't take the credit for the color scheme though, as it's inspired by the actual Nier Automata.
