I feel like it fits them both perfectly; Vox is so in love with Al it kills him, he should hate him for being strung along and having his emotions so easily manipulated. Yet he still tries to get close, to reach out. And still he waits for Al to make a move, to send a sign, that maybe it’s not unrequited.

Alastor thinks love is a waste of time, he calls Vox a fool for taking the bait. But he also calls himself a fool for indulging Vox, for allowing an attachment to the picture box, allowing him to dance and touch and get closer. Fate brought them together and fate keeps them apart, but damn if they won’t try to deny the fates
