Bark sketches (Patreon)

Just some self indulgent sketches of Bark the Polarbear 🥰. This is how I draw him as an adult. Of course I neede to draw him doing his famous eyeroll, knitting, and my headcanon that he cooks a mean pancakes!

I like the idea of him looking cute and round like a teddybear as a child and then looking like a bear as an adult, keeping some fat but having a more triangular shape overall, which in my opinion fits his design and demeanor better. His long hair, long muzzle, angular eyes... In my mind he looks better as being lots of big chubby triangles.

Some people complained that the Archie Comics made all the fat characters less fat, which I agree; but I do think it fits Bark better, which wasn't the case for a lot of other characters they changed. I also has this pet peeve of trying to respect other people's design and I quite like his look in the Archie Comics, he really looks like a teen with his emo bangs and facial expressions 😂.

Fun fact, the creator of Bark the Polar Bear made a human version of him featured in an old manga about Virtual Fighters ( another SEGA franchise), imagining the Sonic The Fighters cast as Virtual Fighters characters and... either he had no idea how to make a fighter that was not lean and muscular or he always envisioned Bark being more lean as he grows up.
