Hi guys! Today we have 2 drawings for the theme "holy symbol"!

I instantly thought about Maria. And why not insert her in my Knight x Princess AU?

Story

Amy et gravely injured while they are on the run. Shadow knows she is going to die. Desperate, He goes deep to ask the favor of the obscure, forgotten godess he worships: Maria, godess of determination. Onmy a few know of her and pray to her, including Shadow and his adoptive father (Gerald).

His father told him there is a statue of her deep in this forest. Rain starts falling from the sky as he goes deeper and deeper into the eerie woods, make the treck more dangerous with the unconcious princess weighting him down. But he won't stop, he cannot afford to.

As the heavy blanket of night is starting to lift, he find the statue, exactly where his adoptive father told him it would be. Oddly prestine, like she was freshly made. Half blinded by the rain, he implores his merciful godess to save Amy. He never asked for anything. And he is eaten by shame that he couldn't protect his princess this time. But maybe Maria will have pity on him. Maybe there will be a miracle, before he collapses from exhaustion and heartbreak. For he loved her, he realized. Had loved her for years. And he couldn't let her go. He needed her as much as the realm did.

He waits for a long time, gazing at the face of the statue. As nothing happens, he turns around and hugs Amy to his chest, feeling the last, feeble breaths from her parted lips. He doesn't see a shining light coming from the statue's face, as dawn breaks between night and rain. The godess, ever so merciful, has listened to her most fateful servant.

The thing is, Maria is the godess of determination, yet cursed with lack of agency. She cannot act directly on anything. She is a prisoner of her fate... but she can help other master theirs. Her power is that she can awaken things that are dormant in people - be it power, self confidence, emotions, ect. If they are truly determined.

Her statue is prestine because it's actually in a time zone and doesn't get the effects of time. The statue is immuable, just like her fate, but it also means that it endures.

She answer Shadow's wish by awakening his dormant chaos powers. Shadow will save Amy by traveling back in time before she was injured. Good thing they stole a chaos emerald from the palace before running away.

His realization of his deep feelings for Amy also comes as a result of Maria's power. he was able to see clearly in his own heart.

He unlock all his powers like they were inate, including the chaos spear I've drawn in that drawing:

Shadow doesn't understad a thing of what is going on - why on Earth does he have magical powers?? But he will use his chaos power wisely. What Shadow also doesn't know is that he's actually a demigod, precisely a descendant of the Black Doom god that is hated by everyone. He is unaware of his roots and didn't think he had any powers. He just heals quickly, is very quick and intelligent but he just thought it was genetic luck. He will eventually learn about it - as well as the fact that Gerald knew it and that's why he adopted him. He wanted to use him somehow.

Mind you i came up with this story this morning so if it's bad it's because it probably is lol

If what they are both wearing is different, it's because I'm exploring different looks that I like, there is no hidden meaning or anything. I'll eventually stick to a design I prefer but since I don't have time to really explore this AU in depth in my free time, I do the exploring as I draw for this Patreon.
