Heru is probably terrified his human family will get swept up in all this god bullshit and weaponized against him or held hostage or forced to enter into this world. He probably feels he lucked out so much that Set's priestess is who she is, that she is willing to let God Stuff be God Stuff and Mortal Stuff be Mortal Stuff for him. I get the impression not a lot of people in this line of work would have done that for him. Even after one considers the stuff he has done to her.
