Hey everyone, something a little different today. As of late, it's been very hard for me to find joy in making comics. Like many artists right now, I'm behind on a lot of work expected of me. That coupled with Everything Going On, I've been feeling very creatively burned out.

Godslave is going to take a small break, at least until next Thursday. In the meantime, I've finished classes so I'll have a day freed up on my schedule, and I'm going to catch up on the freelance I'm behind on-- and binge some comic content. When I'm feeling creatively drained, I've found consuming some beautiful comics and doing studies to be helpful. After work every day I'm going to try to reading more, and leave weekends to some life drawing and bg studies. Something to break routine.I've got a couple books picked out, and started soliciting webtoons recommendations on twitter, because I want to get more familiar with that format!

OhNo it's Hayley

idk If you’re looking for more recommendations, but I think you’d enjoy the comics “Fangs” (love story between a vampire and werewolf) and “Daughter of the lilies” (a mysterious mage joins an adventuring party) if you haven’t read them already! I’m glad to hear you’re taking care of yourself, take as long as you need <3

beautiful watercolours, good use of vertical format: https://www.heartofkeol.com/ It is fantasy and magic in ancient Korea: "a bittersweet character study that explores relationship baggage".

"Octopus Pie" is the best web comic ever written. An epic ten year story, an ensemble cast, coming of age in New York City. Beautifully art, amazing composition (at the "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud level), intelligent and insightful characterization, everything. You said "uses the vertical format really well". So there are a handful of Octopus Pie comics that push the boundaries of the vertical format. Here's one, titled "The Witch Lives", about Hannah's long process of recovery from a bad breakup: http://www.octopuspie.com/2015-01-07/742-the-witch-lives/
