july 21: Books and illustration prompts! (Patreon)

Hey everyone! Hope you’re well and tackling this week as best you can. Things are VERY DIFFERENT since the last update, but in a good way! In the last update, I had just received the book colour proofs and prints. Let’s get the big news item out of the way

Godslave Volume One has landed!!

I am so, so thrilled with how the books came out! I’d been sitting here for two weeks with a weight on my chest, scared I’d forgotten something, the margins would be messed up- despite having triple checked everything and two printing consultants giving the interiors a once over. But they’re great! I filmed a few clips on twitter with a more in depth flip through.

For storage and delivery reasons, the books are being kept at my parents house. They were kind enough to help receive the books, and drive a little over a quarter of the books to my place/office for shipping fulfillment.

Speaking of the office, it got a makeover!

It badly needed a new paint job. The blue was left over from when it was my bedroom. As an office, the yellow feels so nice to work in! And my partner’s suggestion to paint the book shelf and middle wall white helped so much. We had a big summer storm roll in while we were painting, it made for a great Sunday.

Also, as you all know: the Patreon has start running a few polls for illustration prompts! I’m not nearly as practiced with stand-alone illustrations as I am with sequential work, so it’s something I always want to improve but never seem to have the time- or ideas! But they make for a great way to help promo Godslave, so I thought it’d be fun to have guys involved!

The first poll, I just asked, which character would you like to see drawn in a promo? There was no plan to get this elaborate, but somewhere in the first sketches I realized ‘I’ve never drawn a sphinx... I have... to fix’ and I kind of went nuts haha.

In the second poll, I asked which AU you’d like to see, and High Fantasy very quickly took the lead! This one isn’t quite done yet, but it became a great exercise in costume design!

Now: I enter the fulfillment mines. I would looove to try and get everything shipped out before end of August! I’m actually not sure how long it usually takes a project to ship out, once the product has arrived. But considering school starts back up in September, and I have a new project I’d like to start once Fight Me is competed.... The goal is end of August!
