October 5: Patreon Overhaul (Patreon)

Hey everyone! Hope you’re well and taking care of yourselves.

If you haven’t noticed yet, I’ve given the Patreon a huge update. It started with a new banner, and then realizing a lot of things hadn’t been changed since 2015! The About section was still talking about the valor anothology and tmnt sample pages...😬

Because my goals and my projects have changed significantly since then, I wanted the Patreon to better reflect that. But let me be clear: the content is not changing. What you’ve been getting the last few months doesn’t change. What you do get is new tier and rewards graphics!

And as you can see, there’s a new Commission tier as well! This is not meant to be a month-to-month tier, more something someone can hop on for a month and then hop off of or back to the Good Human tier.

We also have new, relevant goals for the Patreon. These also also haven’t updated since I was renting a studio space!

And that’s the new Patreon structure! Again, none of this changes what’s been happening since the last few months. If anything, it just cements what is already being offered to everyone. It also makes it more clear to someone what to expect when they sign up!

I’m super excited about the inclusion on a commission tier! I admittedly have a whole list of commission ideas that I made when I was trying to decide what I wanted for the Kickstarter reward, but they’re mostly two-character requests,, so I’ll have to save up a bit before I can grab one!

I’ve considered a cheaper tier, like 20$ a month, where it’d be like an instalment plan? You pledge for 3 months and get the same thing. If that’s something of interest, let me know!

Oh interesting, I hadn’t considered that! What tier price would be fair for someone to pop into for a month? 10 dollars?

Totally something I'd be interested in for the future - it would be a cool gift for a friend to have their cameo in the comic!! :)

$10 for a cameo is really cheap IMO, I'd expect upwards of $25. Unless you're going to have Hathor throw way more parties where you can just toss people in.

I see your point! My thinking was for 10 dollars, cameos could be simple background characters without the pressure of being gods or main characters. What do you guys think, I really appreciate the input

Ha, actually that is what I was thinking too—pedestrians or clerks or background office staff or whatnot. TBH I'm not sure how much your demand-to-slots ratio will be, just that the couple other times I've seen cameo rewards they get snapped up and then the creator gets stuck with a backlog.

I suppose that you could have one level for a background character, and one level for a foreground character. Another artist (Tistow comic) wanted patron pictures to fill some background scenes, so a few of us obliged. Then as long as they subscribe at that level, they can pop up once in a while.

Well, there's scenes like the museum, pedestrians on the street, etc. They do happen every once in a while.

Hmm!! This is all very helpful! I’m also not sure what the demand will be, but I think the best way to combat a backlog will to limit the tier! We’ll launch the tier at 10 dollars with a limit of ten spots for now, if there’s more demand for it, then we can adjust! Thanks for your feedback ya’ll!
