Between contract colouring and trying to finish this Kickstarter, the last few weeks have been a blur. It’s actually been nice to have these updates/blog posts as a marker during a time where days tend to blend.

But as I mentioned in the title, the Godslave Volume One Kickstarter is so very nearly over! There are literally three packages left: one is a local drop off that I haven’t been able to get a hold of yet, one is the Guest Artist Commission that I really just need to coordinate a safe, appropriate way for her to drop off the art, and one is the final commission on my end that I just wrapped!

Jojo, the founder of Hiveworks asked for a ‘happy bee’ and I kinda had my way with it haha. Here are some other commissions that went out for the Kickstarter!

The commissions ended up being a real highlight to the fulfillment! I enjoyed working on them so much, it’s why I started the Commission tier in the first place.

Once the whole Kickstarter is done, I’d like to write a post about my experience of fulfilling during a pandemic- if only as a reminder of all lessons for myself haha. It was super fun, super rewarding, and extremely educational. Thank you to everyone that supported and backed, it really did mean so much!

My weeks are pretty jammed between Godslave/ Contract work/ teaching, but I did fit some time in to give my website a much needed update:

I lean reeeally basic with my portfolio website layout, aiming for clarity over dazzling. I’m starting to query illustration agents to help with looking for better contract work, so this needed new content. If you want to check it out, it’s all here!

If you missed the Birthday Stream last week, we had a lot of fun going through the sketchbook I started drawing Godslave characters in (and how Godslave got its name) and the notebook I started writing and researching with!

We then asked for art requests based on things they’d maybe seen or throwaway story ideas, and here’s what we got!

Edith in an outfit that was going to be her ‘uniform’ for working as a priest, and a nod to her wanting to be a photographer originally!

There were some references to a Time Travel arc, so someone asked for characters in dated clothing, and I took the opportunity to go full Bulma Hair on Edith haha.

There were, also, plans originally that Heru and Edith would be a couple. That has, obviously, since sailed!! But those of you who like that pairing can still dream✨

That’s it for this week. I think for our next stream, I will finally make good on my Struggle Medium challenge and try out gouache paint. So if you’d like to watch me curse and fumble with paint a bunch, our next stream will be Nov 27th!
