Some of you will be aware that I have been hunting for a large-scale game to try and get as many of us together as possible for a big adventure.

Previous large scale games have reached maybe 20-30 players in total and have always been a massive amount of fun. This time around we're aiming for 50+

What's the game? Planetside 2, and here's why...

First, it's free to play, so anyone who doesn't get on with it isn't out of pocket.

Second, it's ancient, so will run on almost everyone's PC without issue.

Third, it has integrated voice communication, so those without Discord needn't be left out of the loop.

Finally, it has a lot of gameplay variety. 

This final point is key because not everyone wants to charge around with a laser gun getting shot to pieces. For those who enjoy Elite, there are a lot of airborne choices ranging from single-seat escorts, 3-seater bombers and troop transports (you haven't lived until you hot-dropped into battle while under major anti-air fire).

For those who enjoy a spot of Euro Truck, small amphibious APCs are great fun, while the big dog APCs are properly beefy. Remind me to tell you the story of driving one, with a full squad of a cliff into the sea. It made me very popular.

Maybe tanks or lightweight mechs are more your style... Perhaps you want to run a support vehicle, deploy turrets, work as a medic, or maybe you actually fancy charging around with a laser gun. There's something for everyone here.

Initial discussions are taking place on Discord. When we're ready to go we'll all roll fresh characters at the same time but you are more than welcome to familiarise yourself with the game beforehand. This won't be a one-off event either, we'll see if we can't organise a regular adventure. I'll also record the game to properly catalog our exploits... as catastrophic as they may end up being.
