Now, when I'm trying to come up with some kind of less than subtle reference to plagiarise in this opening segment of the battle plan I'll rummage around in Madam Google's seedy undergrowth to try and find a big chunk of text with which I can monkey. Today's search was "scientific plans quotes" and as much as I tootled around trying to find something valid, little was yielded. A little disappointing. A little. The disappointment is however mitigated when I tell you that the above is a lie and I didn't both looking this week instead opting to plunge straight in from the diveboard and just make up some story or other by way of introduction.

Belter.

Steady on, we don't do that two-voice conversational thing here, there's quite enough of that in the end wordy scroll bit which is... a sort-of scientific experiment. This, then makes up the rationale for a scientific plan quote for the opener that I ended up not bothering to look for. Right. So what's the experiment? Well, YouTube really really likes it when people watch a high percentage of your video. Historically I've done pretty well with this, although I'd do better if I could keep the length down to a more manageable 20 minutes, instead of this meandering 3/4 hour stuff I have a tendency to drift into if left unchecked.

Yes, further effort towards keeping to the point would be welcome. Or would it?

This also ties into the other experiment currently ongoing: the new thumbnail design.

While other channels use big flashy colours, gurning faces and emojiiiiis, that would not be representative of this channel's tone. No, this channel is heavily geared toward commentary and narrative (flow). It's quite wordy, even if it drops into being incoherent more frequently than is desirable. To that end, a pull-quote in the thumbnail I felt would better represent the nature of the beast. The thinking here being that while one may not attract as many viewers via the almighty click-through-rate, those who chose to throw caution to the wind a eyeball said beast would be more likely to engage with the verbal omnishambles that is the bread and butter of what is oft-referred to as "content".

So, two experiments to see what needles can be moved: needle 1, average view percentage, needle 2, conversion of new viewers to subscribers.

I am the professor, and class is in session.

Let's schedule!

Tue: Skylines

  • Wed: Nothing. I need to actually finish Skylines building before recording it.
  • Thu: Erm, Skylines, probably. Last one though for realsies.
  • Fri: Transpooooooort Feeeeeevaaaaar. Not a series, a one-and-done exploring another amazing build. It'll be good. A full series will be en route shortly. Not sure how shortly right now, stay tuned.
  • Sat: Rising Star, a series which many are saying is very funny. There are like half a dozen running gags now. You should watch it, absence of trains notwithstanding.
  • Sun: Baseball on the Electrosports channel (SUBSCRIBE, POR FAVOR) and the Dyson Sphere Program for backer-type people

New series starts on Monday but it may need to be suspended or quick-finished as I have an impending early-access kinda thing you'll want to watch me play. You will, because you've said you will. So you had better watch it.

(The render is just finishing now.)

(The above line only makes sense when you're aware of context, which some of you will be later. Others will not. Your loss, either way.)

I may not finish every video in one sitting but I finish them. Does YouTube (I for one welcome our algorithm overlords) consider that a full or a partial? I'd hope it's a partial until completed.

Rising Star is my new fav game

the latest TF2 update should mean a framerate boost, wont help with CPU usage with things get really crowded but Vulkan is a more streamlined engine so less work for the GPU.

@Colonel hmm if you need to jump out of a game to cover somthing else I would preffere that you suspended a current series rather than cuting it short, cutting a series short allways leaves me feeling that I’m missing out on stuff, but that migt just be a flaw in my personality
