The start of a brand new game series is tricky.

Increasingly so given my current density of train and transport officienados. While there are a goodly number (these days) of folks who subscribe to my channel who'll watch me get up to any old nonsense, there's always the concern that a new game simply will not resonate with them. In the worst case scenario, diverting from the popular norm may drive away people who enjoy your core content entirely.

Diversification however, is critical if I'm to be anything other than a one-trick pony, and as much as "the Jingles of Transport Fever" (as I was described in a comment earlier today) isn't a bad place to be, the attention the game is receiving will not last forever so expanding my range is pretty critical.

Transport Fever isn't going anywhere - 4 episodes per week is the plan, and the second season comes with some LOFTY IDEAS. That'll end well.

Regulars here will know of my love for survival games already, and 7D2D is keeping me particularly amused already, he said, getting to the point. As such I'm going to try and nail the first episode for this coming weekend and I need two things from you once it's out:

1. Have I got it right? Is my tone in-keeping with the kind of thing you find entertaining.

2. Would you like to join in? I have a UK-based multiplayer server which may or may not work elsewhere in the world - you won't know if you don't try.You don't have to appear in an episode (unless you want to) and I definitely don't expect it'll be to everyone's taste, but what I found in my ARK series was that I just didn't have the tone right at all. Great notion for a series, terrible execution.

I will, of course take feedback before it happens, but I'd be particularly interested to know what backers think after the first episode is out on Sunday.

Much obliged,

-CF

I haven't played 7D2D in a long time. I've heard there's been significant changes since I last played. I'm interested in seeing what's new with the game play.

I would say go for it, it is not my thing but i believe it should be a winner for u.

Firstly you have to remember that all of your Patreon members arrived because they stumbled across you because of one game or another. Having seen and heard the delivery went and looked at other content, that's what I did. Having lots of time on my hands I have watched an awful lot of it. With the recent TpF intake I suspect there are a goodly number who will follow this pattern. The Bad Company roster seems to have grown, so there is weight to this argument. All the other YouTube channels must work in a similar fashion. Yes you will lose some rail fanatics, but playing a different game and genre will hopefully bring more than you lose. At the end of the day you cannot please everybody all the time. I watch your vids for 2 (maybe 3) reasons. I purchased TF, after seeing your early videos, and I have learnt a great deal watching you play. Sometimes I may disagree with your approach, but if I had not seen what you did, I would not have considered an alternative. I watch for entertainment, in the same way people watch a series / soap on TV, that is why I joined Patreon. You have introduced me to other games, some I would consider buying in the future. I am currently trying to talk my self OUT of buying a PC, just so I can play banished. As for 7DTD, I had never heard of it before you mentioned it, I looked for other YouTube content on it. I think your haphazard way of playing will be fun to watch. Other videos I have seen don't appear to have done the game justice. Lots of aimless wandering around waving arms at things, not entertaining at all. I am not sure it's a game I would play, I struggle with remembering all the hot keys for anything. I just about manage with WASD and ZX etc Sorry it's a long winded way to say, give it a shot and stuff the moaners...

As you've stated above, " the attention the game is receiving will not last forever so expanding my range is pretty critical. " SO I'd say expand that range. It'll be fun for people to join in, and I'm quite sure with your playstyle, interfered by zombies, and whatever comes on your path would be hilarious to watch. Geoff did a great job summarising the reason I'm here too. You are the first I came across with this specific humour and playstyle. I'm sure 7D2D will be refreshing between all the TpF videos.

Do it! It has been said why above :)

whilest i'm not a fan of zombie games etc. like 7D2D (actually watched some youtubes about it) it's your channel and your life. You should decide what you want to play, and if it doesn't work out or doesn't get the views, you can decide what to do with it. I would recommend slipping it in gently, with a single episode every week or every other week? Would love to see some more Osiris new dawn though ;-)

"I purchased TF, after seeing your early videos, and I have learnt a great deal watching you play. Sometimes I may disagree with your approach, but if I had not seen what you did, I would not have considered an alternative or enjoyed the entertainment that went along with it" Geoff nailed it, Couldn't Agree More.

Really glad to see you playing more of what you want as well. Great letter about what is coming online. I also love me some 7 Days to Die and work hard to provide a channel that is well rounded. I would like to stop by if I have some time and such. I played a little after the last update and really like what has been going on.

Colonel Failure

Thanks for all the comments folks. I'll see about doing a pilot episode, you can then give a caesar-like thumbs up or down.

Seems I cannot reply direct to your reply but send me the details on Steam and I will try and see what is going on in your series to help take part. Should be some fun times. latency problems or not. :) Keep on gaming my friend.

Fade Willow
