I realise this has been a prevalent topic lately, and to those not involved I apologise...There was a good, if somewhat emotive, chat about plans for alpha 16 (when we'll have to reset once more) and the changes to game settings, along with the overall scheme for the server I have in mind. To avoid any hearsay, here's the plan:- Days will be reset to 1 hour in length. This will limit movement (unless you like being out after dark) but will respawn loot faster.- We will be using the "dead means dead" option. This is very contentious, because it means that if you die you revert back to level 1. I will attempt to increase XP gain to avoid the grind being horrendous, however the point of this change is to instil genuine excitement to zombie fighting and survival. While deaths from glitches, disconnections and so on do happen they are infrequent. This added layer of risk should make people a little more wary about overconfident looting, expanding and building, meaning that the biggest rewards come with greater risk. This, in turn, should slow overall progress on the server both in terms of XP growth and the accumulation of high end gear. Blueprints should be more scarce leading to individual players being able to further specialise.Maybe. If it really doesn't work, we can impose standard, easy going rules again. But consider the prestige in being a level 100 zombie hunter when death would mean a full reset...- The theme for the next map will be "kingdoms" (or queendoms). 4 teams of players will be preselected to create a base/fortress/town in 4 different areas. - The point mid-distance from all 4 will be declared the market. Where each of the teams can sell their wares.- This will still be a cooperative game. If you're hoping for PVP this is as close as you'll get.- Each group will have a player who wants to focus in one of these areas - farming, scavenging, building, weapon/armour smithing. They may have multiple players interested in those disciplines but a minimum of 1 ensures good survival capabilities.Alpha 16 is still a little way off but it'd be good to get an idea of the core teams before then. Sign in below if you have a preference.-CF

Patreon really hates paragraphs... I'll fix this a little later.

These settings fine by me.

I'm excited to try these new settings. Although I'm enjoying two hour days and not getting wiped when I die, I am looking forward to trying something more difficult. As for team preferences, as long as Hayes is the builder for whichever team I'm on I'll be happy. -Cpt. Jack 'Snaggles' Noe

XP increase and talk of switching settings to something else if it doesn't work? Ok Colonel, you've got me. I am perfectly okay with this change now. I'm ready for A16!

Dan Leas (Elzar760)

I'll go along with whatever. I do like the base coop thing we have going now, but it could be interesting to be smaller parties and roles like that.

When en how do we assemble teams xd

My 2 pennies worth. An interesting read. Firstly I love that you’re willing to change things up every once in a while in game to keep people on their toes. And I think the four king(queen)doms idea is great, bring it on. I’m not so sure about shortening the days back to an hour. I find nights are not that exciting in game, most of the time, it’s a case of sitting in the base or in some hidey hole if you’re off exploring, waiting for the sun to rise. I like the idea of the longer day. It gives you a chance to “achieve” more. The thing I really don’t like is “dead is dead”. I’ve played games with a form of permadeath before and I find it gets very tedious very rapidly. Maybe it’s my play style – I’m currently leading on the death counter in 7d2d by a good margin, but it hasn’t been enjoyable. It is so frustrating to lose everything that you’ve worked so hard for and put so much time into just because of one questionable decision or one more pack of those damn dogs. For me, this rapidly stops being fun. Even worse, considering the game is still alpha, is to lose everything to some bug. Something that has happened to me on more than one occasion. Yes, the game has become easier over the past days, but remember, most of us are now playing high level characters with top of the range kit. It should be easier. It shows how we’ve progressed. Introducing permadeath just feels like a roadblock is being added to slow every one down. Aren’t there other options that could be used make the game more challenging? And remember, the devs are adding ways to make the game tougher with the inclusion of new adversaries like the Behemoth. I will go with the flow with this for now with the hope that it isn’t too painful. But I have to say, based on past experiences, this has the possibility of becoming a deal breaker for me as far as 7d2d is concerned. Cheers. Mostlysane

I too, wouldn't mind being on Hayes' team. Having seen the new test bunker I'm very excited to be a part of it!

For the next reset, I don't mind changing my play style a little to fit in with these objectives. I'm willing to look after the farming, whilst also keeping people stocked with meat and feathers. This is slightly different to how I normally play, so will be somewhat reliant on people sharing loot and making sure defences are safe!

I'm also interested in playing on the server, but agree with mostlysane entirely. The nightshift are slow and mean hiding, so not such a good idea. The deed is deze option too, not to dictee About that, but Hey i haven't played it that much as you guys...
