I'd be happiest to see the automatic reupload/sync with D&D Beyond move out of "beta", so my players have the flexibility to choose whichever platform they want to roll with.

Jonas

I'd love containers, so encumberance can actually become a problem. In fights the players might drop their backpack and not have access to their items but become unencumbered. In a town a pickpocket steals the belt pouch and the items in there are lost. Having containers that automate encumberance make it an interesting choice compared to needless bookkeeping. At least for the kind of campaigns where this is an interesting element

BloOdlyne

I'm using it in my live game and it works suprisingly good. There are some bugs like exhaustion doesn't remove if you remove it from the PC in Foundry.

MrPrimate

@BloOdlyne That's good to know - I'll take a look at that

Stashravens

One item that I would really like is that D&D Beyond lets you create custom skills now. I would love it if we could bring those into the character sheet in Foundry. Aside from that, I second containers!

John Preston

Maybe team up with the guy who makes MIDI so that you can piggy back off some of his automation with spells and abilities. Might speed up the progress. My fear is that I'll end up with multiple sources of automation which conflict with one another.

MrPrimate

I would love to, but the core 5e in Foundry doesn't support this!

MrPrimate

So these effects use Midi Under the hood - Midi is kind of the "engine" that powers a lot of them, especially spells.

David Burke

Where can I find info on how your expanded spell automations work?

John Preston

Given how amazing this mod is, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you have already thought of that. Thanks for the reply and the mod. It is quite literally a game changer.

Lord Yod

I think importing spells, feats, class features, etc is the primary function of the module, so completing that as much as is feasible before starting on other large features is probably the right move.

Andy Bixby

Artificer Infusions would be wonderful, although I obviously have no idea how difficult that is! Thank you for all you do!

Eran Arbel

Right now, I removed all the monsters from my compendiums so I can be sure that what's there are things that I actually parsed myself. And I'm using Compendium Folders to sort it by type and CR. My second reason for this is so that I could look for a different monster that is similar to an existing one. That's why I want more monster filtering. And maybe that things can be imported directly into folders. Too bad I'm in the minority.

MrPrimate

So right now they mostly cover what was in MidiSRD - they either will make use of Convinient effects or Item Macros - it attempts to automate some of the spell effects, that can be useful for say the Aid spell.

MrPrimate

These should already be importing when you import a character! Make sure you have the Cobalt Cookie set up,

SkroxiousDM

Have you considered using Warpgate for automation of summoning spells and polymorph/wildshape?

Dane Rickett

Have you tried Compendium Browser? It's pretty excellent for hunting around your compendiums for things.

Eran Arbel

I did. It was very inefficient both in resources and finding what I wanted.

Rinzler

I would love to see a Database plugin option to audit and push or pull from dndbeyond to track character advancements and accidental overwrites.

Lisa Y

I have not used Effects because of how many extra modules I will have to vet in order to make it work. I try to limit my module use (esp ones with cross-dependencies) as much as possible, because I don't have the time to learn and then also debug all of them every time something updates or breaks. Just letting you know my use and concerns, even if they're not the most common.

Steven O'Seal

It is possible to Add the "NOTES" Tab from Beyond do Sync with the "Miscellaneous" Block in Foundry? in my case, my players wrote a game journal in beyond unter "other"

Tom Murray

Might not be useful to you, but I had also avoided learning/setting up automated effects for a long time. What finally convinced me was this interview/tutorial with the author of Midi-QOL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ImgwRlGyV4 - after 20 minutes, I've been using Effects for everything and absolutely loving it.

MrPrimate

This is cool, there is no requirement for the effects modules etc.

Hector Cornejo

Neat stuff, Just wanted to post to cheer on the work.

Lisa Y

That's a very helpful video - thanks for sharing!
