I really need to catch up on you BSG stuff. Coincidentally I went to the same University as Gaius Baltar - he was in my college too, as in a subdivision of the university rather than a synonym for university as it’s often used in the US.

Troy Convers

You judge yourselves against the pitiful TV series you have reacted to so far. TNG, Doctor Who. They're nothing compared to what's waiting in this two parter and beyond. Gals, you are about to move into areas of BSG containing wonders more incredible than you can possibly imagine, and terrors to freeze your soul.

Brina Blue

I'm so excited! This is my first GG full reaction! I can't wait to see the whole thing unedited!

Locoturbo

Such incredible tension and amazing writing in this one. As for Baltar, we the audience know Boomer is a cylon, and Baltar knows. His motivations seem crazy, but I felt like his seemingly callous response to Boomer "on the edge" was his twisted / cowardly way to finally try to "do the right thing" for the fleet?

Nolan

I'm not gonna say Lee wasn't jealous when he confronted Kara about sleeping with Gaius, the Vice President, but an element that a lot of reactors miss is that Lee IS Kara's commanding officer, and since Giaus as VP is part of the chain of command as well, Kara and Gaius's relationship is professionally inappropriate, and Lee, as Kara's C.O. is within his rights to reprimand her for those actions. Grsnted that's not WHY he was mad about it and why that scene was so personal, but Lee was within his rights as her commander to question her about it. He was just too close to it himself to be proper about it. Human And Paula's comment about being in a relationship in the military cause one can pull rank is WHY Lee has the right to pry into Kara's relationship, because, Tyrol and Boomer and Kara and Gaius is inappropriate for that reason. Another layer is that Kara being in an inappropriate relationship with Lee's brother is what got Lee's brother killed as well. So it's VERY personal to him.

Maswoo

I'm enjoying this, I must be a sick frack. Look forward to next episode every week even so I've seen the whole series multiple times. You're doing a great job :thumbsupemoji:

I think with Boomer and Gaius, its not just about her finding out she's a Cylon when he says there are worse things than death. It's what she said "I feel like I'm going to hurt someone". I completely agree what he said is terrible to say to someone who is suicidal and that in of itself is a good conversation in its own right. That said, Gaius knows she is a Cylon which also means that he knows (or at least suspects) that she can't actually die from what he has been told to date. The show has told us next to nothing about sleeper agents, tbf, so we don't know if that's true and other things like if there's a range. But if she is a Cylon and if Head Six is right and "she can't be stopped, she's a Cylon" then there is a twisted form of logic there that only she can stop herself. Now, he could turn her in, say he found and corrected a test error, etc and let the Admiral imprison and/or execute her as a Cylon but he has apparently decided that isn't an option.

Azure_Sentry

Also, agree on Lee being inappropriate. He's using the excuse of the fact that under "normal" rules it would be very inappropriate for her to have slept with the VP, particularly since she was technically part of his security. His anger is substantially more justified in her going above him to the XO with her raider-nuke plan, but obviously there is still bleed over of the inappropriate source of his anger there too. Not to mention, things are not normal and so I think those "don't sleep with the VP" type of thing are pretty unimportant for them now.

Nolan

She has a history of inapproriate relationships though, one of which resulted in the death of his brother. And Boomer and Chief had to call off their relationship because of it's outside effects and Kara was CLEARLY having an effect on Gaius, compromising the effectivensss of leadership in the fleet. But Lee definitely let his own personal feelings have too much control in what should have been a professional reprimand. He obviously went in there mad because he thought of her unprofessionalism and Zac's death, but he did not prepare himself for his own jealousy. Probably cause he tries to NOT think that he thinks about Kara that way.

Jonathan

What the Cylons have done to Boomer is very frakked up. Blackouts, a sense that she's going to do something terrible, but her human 'programming' not allowing her to accept that she's a Cylon or do anything about it. And Gaius was trying to encourage her to commit suicide. You can tell he's conflicted about it, but he also knows how dangerous she is.

Mike Connaghan

Please don't throw up. I want a hot dog.

Starbuck and Apollo punching each other is the definition of equal rights. (military ranks aside)

There is a reason we come back every week for your reactions. This video began with talk about some sort of Australian candy product, and ended with a considered discussion around the intricacies of gender roles in the media in the context of domestic abuse. Its what sets this channel apart - your personalities shining through - and the brilliant discussions afterwards. Please, don't ever cut them short. As a Red Dwarf fan too, to see you talk about the politics, characters and worldbuilding in that silly BBC Comedy - with such a depth of consideration that a heck of a lot of YouTubers lack - it makes your videos an absolute joy. Whether its a dark series like BSG, or a fun series like RD, I love how must respect you give the content - whether you like it or offer valid criticism. Regarding Six killing a baby. When I first watched it, I interpreted this heinous act as charitably as I could - that she was sparing the baby the horrors of the upcoming nuclear holocaust. That was why (in my view) she walked away from the act looking disturbed. I also felt - when initially watching and with no spoilers - that the Six that Gauis interacted with back on Caprica, before her body was blown up by a nuke - was significantly different in personality to the absolutely evil manifestation we see as Head Six. The way she explained who she was, they way she grabbed him to protect him and warned him to get down, none of this correlated with the cruel and calculating monster that is in his mind. The "All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again" really gets meta if you think that Battlestar Galactica is a remake of Battlestar Galactica, and that there is talk and rumours of a new remake of Battlestar Galactica. Can't wait for next week!

John

Agreed. Everything Lee said was appropriate to a CAG redressing one of his pilots for inappropriate behavior. He was not impartial and on a strictly impersonal level it would have been none of his business, but when you add in the chain of command, it gets messy. All the more reason relationships like that are against regs.

Anthony MacEwan

Come for the candy talk, stay for the BSG.

Jonathan

I also love that Kara leaves herself plausible deniability - she's obviously apologising for sleeping with Baltar, but she COULD be "really sorry" for going over his head with her nuke plan.

Hugo Fitzpatrick

On a "what the frak!" stress metre of all of BSG this is probably a 9.2... They really do amazing crescendo moments as a show. To borrow a phrase from another sci-fi show, "welcome to the churn."

Wade Wallenstein

I knew this was going to be a rough one for you Gals but your thoughts at the end were great. It's an incredible show and I've been enjoying your perspective on it!

bakamitai

This is one of the very few shows where I think the commercial breaks are actually needed to avoid absolute emotional meltdown. What an absolute banger of an episode, and I'm excited to see your reaction to the (first!) season finale.

Josh McPherson

Ah, Musk Sticks, a favourite of mine as a child. As an adult, I have a place that does musk stick flavoured candles. My house smells amazing instead of smelling like the cat!

Ann & Alex Taylor

Tune in this time next week to see the gals fall off their chairs 😂

I enjoyed the edited YouTube post of this episode, and so I signed on as a new Patreon member… but I don’t see a link to watch this episode. Am I missing something? Is it delayed a week? If so, how are y’all commenting on the full version? Am I not on a high enough tier (Allons-Y?) What the frak? 😊

Thontor

One thing I love about this show is that our 'heroes' are very flawed people. and the so called 'villains' the cylons aren't necessarily all evil, despite committing genocide on the human race. You gals are right that Head-Six is very manipulative. She is absolutely using Gaius as a pawn to her own ends. Is she just in his head? She did slam his head against a mirror in this episode, drawing blood. Evidence seems to point to her being able to physically manipulate him and push him around.

Time Lord

Hiya! Just added the vimeo link into the description! (Normally it's usually there, so thank you for catching that)! - Kat
