Other Trek reference watch... Boimler calls Jet a "Kirk Sundae with Trip Tucker sprinkles." Everyone knows Kirk, but Trip Tucker is the engineer on Enterprise. Kind of a cool Southern guy who is the chief engineer on that show. Mariner also suggested Barb was a Suliban, who are aliens who were major villains on Enterprise.

I'm gonna go with Peanut Butter Cup. Czechia gets like 8 flavors of B&J and I have yet to find a store that would sell all of them. Not shown on screen but the station from Mariner's flashback was in fact Deep Space 9.

When it comes to the Lower Decks references, I think that they're almost always just like bonus jokes. They rarely require understanding a reference to enjoy the story. Also, they usually come and go by super fast. So even if you've seen all the previous Treks, the odds are pretty high that some reference just slip past because the show is so fast paced. This is my second time through LD, and I'm catching references I missed the first time.

What I really love about this episode is how they turn the trope of "two girls fight over a guy" right on its head. Neither one of them are jealous of their place in Boimler's life. They just know Boimler and can't figure out what the other is dating / is friends with him. They're just being overprotective of their favorite Bambi lost in the woods! Plus the parasite reveal made me laugh like a loon....

Aaron Funnell

There were some nice audio Doctor Who references. The device Rutherford uses to put out the plasma fire is the sound effect from Matt Smith's sonic screwdriver.

Miguel A. Moreta

The ships battling the Borg in the opening credits are Romulan Warbirds.

Travis Boyle

Really liked the Parliament Class ships. Them being named after Canadian cities is just icing on the cake. Really great stuff in the episode. Enjoyed the guy wanting to go to a less important/boring ship because he can't handle all the time travel and all the other crazy shit that goes on. Something I never really thought about but makes sense actually. And thanks Paula for a final laugh in the video by slipping in the 🎵Low, Low, Low🎵 at the end. Lol

This show gets better as the seasons progress. The jokes get better and also the Star Trekness of it as well (it has a lot of heart). Make sure when you get towards the later seasons to watch the Strange New Worlds crossover with Lower Decks.

Lizbeth Marcs

The best part about that crossover is that you only need to be familiar with ONE of the shows to really enjoy it. At the time, I knew nothing about Strange New Worlds and I was hesitant to watch it. The crossover convinced me to give it a try and I'm glad I did. SNW is that perfect blend of classic and modern Trek. Bonus: Jerry O'Connell who voices Ransom in Lower Decks is married to Rebecca Romijin who plays Number One on SNW, so there's even a little in-joke at the end of the cross-over about that.

My husband and I LOVE Ben and Jerry's Americone Dream. It was the idea of Stephen Colbert and a portion of the sales of that flavor go to a charity called Donor's Choose. It is yummy!

Terrell Kirkman

I love your reactions and I knew you'd enjoy STLD. Just a small suggestion before you watch season 3, please watch at least these two episodes. DS9 S4E6 Starship Down and Voy S2E24 Tuvix. They can be watched without having to have seen anything else.
