It took me embarrassingly long to recognize that Essek's pretty clear motivation for throwing Verrat under the bus was deflection of his own culpability for the death of his mother. I don't even think it was so much "if my mom had to die, so do you" and more "it's *your fault*my mom had to die"...but the result is the same: Verrat being too blindsided by Essek's betrayal to even properly defend himself. I really found this episode fascinating, in part because I didn't know about Vess' interest in the eyes (didn't make it far enough into the campaign to encounter that information, I guess). There's still SO much we don't know about Caleb's history (how he actually fell out with Trent and the Volstruckers, what murder he's accused of, where his new identity came from) and about Molly's missing memories (which i do already know some of, but not enough to entirely spoil for myself). Currently my only real disappointment in the show is skipping an entire plotline from the campaign that introduced one of the best reoccuring guest characters on the show. Looking forward to your reactions to the season finale!

Also, I have the theory, that the bright queen now knows and actually uses Essek for his knowledge (Like it might have been her idea to clean his name). There were some glazes between them and some hints. But nothing certain. But either way, Verrat was betrayed and used as a scapegoat. He was honorable, trustworthy and a great friend, he deserved better.

In today's episode, you learn how important friendship is, and that the Guillotine was in fact an improvement XD Astrid actually seemed more pissed about Caleb/Bren leaving her than actually him betraying Trent etc. It felt more emotional relationship driven behavior to me. The other one is hard to read. Verrat wurde verraten 😢

Yeah, Essek talks about injustice being met with justice. The Queen thinks the injustice being referred to is the theft of the beacon but it's clear that to Essek, the injustice is his mother being dead.
