An entire episode about baseball on the holodeck? What a ludicrous concept! Sharon Lawrence was a regular cast member on NYPD Blue at the time.

I've loved this episode since it came out, not just because of the WTF of Amelia Earhart's fate being discovered, but the plot twist of it turning into a referendum on whether the crews quest for Earth continues. This episode was written and produced as an S1 finale, so that's probably where you're getting those vibes from. And any fan of NYPD Blue *holds hand up* knows how great an actress Sharon Lawrence is; having Amelia Earhart join the cast (or even a spinoff where she's captain of a ship) would have been a blast!

Often overlooked, but I loved how the Delta-quadrant humans had last names like Evansville and Berlin - obviously some began changing last names as tribute to cities and places they'd never see again. I wonder if/when they realized just how far they were from Earth? And now a complaint - out of over 100,000 humans there, not ONE wanted to come along on a journey to Earth?? Remember that (I think, despite absorbing the Maquis crew) Voyager is already a bit shorthanded after losing people in the premiere. Surely they could have taken on 10 or 20 people who wanted to make such a journey, trained them as crewmen and bolstered the ranks a bit.
