My favourite absolute episode. The sound design 🤌 Never noticed before that they did a thing with Spike's eyes. Wasn't there a lot of abandoned theme parks in Japan in the 90's? Oh and I think he saw the large crushing mascot as his mommy in those last moments, I see it as he called for his mommy and saw "her" coming towards him and was reaching out to be picked up. Ooof!

Ive come across the subject of 90s abandoned theme parks in Japan due to the bubble economy collapsing, Japanese population aging out, etc. A number of smaller parks had been financed by small banks which failed. Some really big parks like Naras Dream & Kingdom of Gulliver failed too due to declining tourism & the bubble crash. Japanese Universal & Disney Parks drove some independents out of business as well.

My 2p : I think watching the movie after the show works well because it's an encore. One more song after the set has ended to dip into that nostalgia -- and we're far along enough in the show to understand that nostalgia, the past, flashbacks, etc. are a major theme of the show. (It's maybe less so if you're going to watch it right after instead of having to wait like irl, but still) In that way, the movie has its place after the series. Watching it in chrono order is more like a longer episode before the finale. (also, for reasons I won't disclose, I personally feel like it doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the show tonally, - movies are just different - so it might end up feeling more like a weird speedbump in the middle of the show)

God, what a fantastically made episode. Spike's different-colored eyes were actually relevant, like the cat's! The fact that he called out to "mommy" is very interesting, as the science montage seemed to state that he was a clone and wouldn't remember a mother. Minor correction for something Kat said, I don't think Pierot created the park, I'm sure it was pre-existing and just abandoned. I doubt he would create a hologram fairy to warn children away from danger. Regarding the movie, I'll add my support for narrative order! Though, I would say between 23 and 24, not 22 and 23. It flows best that way. But either way is fine. :)
