WE CAN NOT LOSE ALL OF HIS PROGRESS!! NO!!

As stated last week today's episode got messed up on our end during the recording process. The audio from the episode itself is embedded in the video with our audio and there was no way to split the two from one another (believe me, I did the research 🫠). Because of this the video has had to be uploaded to a google drive file because YT still flagged the video for copyright even though it's not on our published YT channel. I know some of y'all are probably happy to have the episode audio for keeping things aligned, but this also means our own reaction audio is buried a bit under the episode which is frustrating as all hell. This episode is the last one that we will have this issue on and things will be back to normal next week. Apologies for the issues and I guess... Enjoy having the episode audio available? Still no visual though as I'm trying to abide by copyright laws to the best of my ability. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

To avoid spoilers I won't get deeply into the writing of Kes this season other than to say with the new writers the writing for Kes feels experimental/boundry pushing of Jennifer and uneven at times this season, but she still a favorite of mine.

It's best to take the prime directive with a big old grain of salt, but they do get more reflective writing as the new writers get their legs under them.

The writer’s tendency to drive Janeway’s character based on the needs of the plot rather than drive the plot from her character is, unfortunately, one of the more legitimate criticisms of this series.

Sounds like you guys have already heard about Kes leaving? I won't spoil anything but she was also one of my favorite characters and I was sad to see her leave. I do like this episode but there are really no consequences to anything that happens with the Doctor here. It all goes back to the status quo for the next episode. Kind of like Tuvix. Or the events of Resolutions. It is never mentioned again. This is mostly a very episodic show from here on out.

without getting into spoilers this isn't near the last time the doctor's program has stability issues, while not directly quoting this episode there are reasonable inferences imo.

my rationale for her rationale is that this isn’t involving themselves in rival sects of the same species or even different species. It would be like choosing sides in a war that they don’t belong in. This is just “oops just gonna squeeze by ya there” I’m not sure if border incursions are part of the prime directive, but surely that violates some Star fleet regulation somewhere

Janeway committed a war crime here. You can't just walk into someone else's territory and when they try to repel your warship, you blow up a whole swarm of them. They probably have a reason for defending their space the way they do. On the other hand, the concept of owning a region of space is silly. Two bacteria arguing who owns the elephant they live on.
