Patrons!

The time has come! Or at least it almost has… Star Trek: TNG is coming up to its end soon and we’re ready to start planning for a big Sci-fi show to follow next, and we would love for you to be a part of it! We’re excited to expand into something new, but we’re stuck between two choices. We took a look at all of suggestions from everyone for a new show and it’s come down to either:

Battlestar Galactica or Farscape!

Take part in the poll below over the next week or two to help decide what show will be next on the roster!

To all of our lovely Star Trek fans, notice how we didn't say it would be replacing Star Trek... We have a plan to move on to another Star Trek show... But we're gonna keep that tucked in our pockets for a little longer 🤫 (We are not pulling your leg about more Star Trek coming, but also it's not DS9. We don't want y'all to think we're leading you on).

Farscape! While BG is a great show it doesn't have the place in my heart that Farscape does so this is an easy choice!

Joss Town

Ohhhhh I would love to see you watch Battlestar Galactica. So Say We All!

Eytan

100% agree

Chris Padwick

How about you throw in a bit of Good Omens some time

Travis Starnes

Farscape is so much weirder and wilder, I know they'd get a kick out of. it. Battlestar is good, but much more straightforward

Scribbles

Definitely Farscape. BSG had too much of a try-hard, edgelord feel to it for my tastes.

Doug C

The highs of Battlestar are great but the lows are SO low. Farscape is also weirder for interesting reactions. :-)

Robert Norton

Oh plz BSG. Greatest sci-fi show ever made. And at only 4 seasons, its not a massive commitment, but oh SO worth it..

Mab7373822

Battlestar Galactica is extraordinary TV. The twists and turns, the remarkable characterisation, the politics and paranoia, it is absolutely magnificent! Just don't wiki the series - the spoilers are absolutely mega from the first episode onwards, and part of the fun is speculating just who is who.

John

I have been thinking of a Farscape rewatch, I hope it wins!

Mab7373822

However, if Farscape wins - and good luck to both shows - please consider returning to Battlestar later in life. It's really something special.

Joshua Langweil

Glad you are not abandoning Star Trek. BSG is also run by Ronald D. Moore, so there is also a connection. Also, you should really do DS9, it's quite good, has some of the best episodes of the franchise. Maybe one day.

Mark Lee

Farscape is fun, but Battlestar Galactica is one of the all-time great TV shows.

Justin Miyashiro

Haven't seen either one, but definitely recognize both. I hear more about BSG, hence my vote, but I suspect either would be a good watch!

Tegan

I want Farscape to win so badly

Bill

Since it's the Battlestar reboot, Farscape :)

Yonatan

Farscape!!! The show that decided that ADRing all the dialogue was an acceptable loss for putting your entire cast is head to toe leather.

gobmob2000

I'm not a fan of Farscape, it a little too campy for me and I don't usually mind camp. BSG is one of my favourite scifi shows, its a full story from beginning to end full of politics, twist and turns and unlike star trek, its not episodic but has a complete story ark.

Brian Leonard

I voted for Battlestar. Never had any interest in Farscape. Did anyone suggest For All Mankind? Disappointed there will be no DS9. I would not have gotten into Trek without DS9 so it will always be my favorite.

Dr Q Who

Would've loved if it was the 1979 version of Battlestar Galactica. Hoping the next Star Trek franchise are Voyager and Picard.

LW Dance

Can't choose. Truly, cannot choose.

R. Chang

BSG just because I haven’t seen Farscape. It’s also an excellent show. At least for the first few seasons. It’s pretty unusual for a show to make me jump up off the couch and cheer but BSG did that for me.

Funderbunk

Battlestar IF you do the 70s version

R. Chang

Oh, out of curiosity, have either of you seen either show?

LonghillAndy

The gallifrey gals have said before about not doing ds9 however I would love to see Katrina’s take on voyager and enterprise at some point in the future before they hit Picard especially with some of the things shown in season 3 there should be a gap before they see them so they get maybe a similar reaction to what a lot of us did, if you know you know

Kane Is Able

The Gallifrey Girls Get Fracked!!! The title is already there.

OldManFerdiad

I'm truly torn. BSG is epic but I feel like it's so much darker than anything they've done before. I've only seen bits and pieces of Farscape and remember liking it but would probably watch along.

K1productions

Its not so much the dark I'm worried about, but the way certain characters are treated along the way, some of which can get very uncomfortable.

Firefly24601

It's REALLY tough! arrrrgghhhh!!!!

Firefly24601

Neither of them have seen either show.

pickupthepieces

Not sure I'll join only for one of these shows. Will they be bundled with the new ST show in one tier?

Time Lord

We will be figuring out the Patreon tier situation after we find out what we'll be moving forward with! - Kat

Brad Barter

Battlestar has so many reactions already. It's an amazing show and of course I am totally there to watch if it wins, however, I love Farscape and the amount of reaction videos for it is virtually non-existent. I also realize that it was cancelled after its 4th season but it won numerous sci-fi Saturn Awards and its first 3 seasons are totally awesome.

Brad Barter

Or Frelled!! If you don't know about it I can't Frelling help you lol

Joel Featherstone

At this point I think Battlestar Galactica is going to edge out on top but I really wish it was Farscape. It's such an odd and unique show that even if it loses, I would suggest considering it in the future. Battlestar Galactica was a little too bleak for my liking.

Mike

Tough choice but I'm going to have to vote for Farscape. I just love how wild and unique the show is and I love the cast. I think it needs some love. Battlestar is a great show too but I have to go for the underdog.

Hugo Fitzpatrick

I would love for you to go for DS9 next, but as I am a BSG fan and have the box set I'd be happy to watch along. Its been easily 3-4 years since my last re-watch. Also, you have to do the mini-series to start, and Razor. Not so much "The Plan"...

David Brown

Please do Star Trek: Voyager.

Brian Moore

Crossing my fingers for Picard season 3 after you do the movies. It's basically TNG's 8th season.

DC

There's no question that Battlestar is a better show, but Farscape is way more fun. Battlestar is depressing lol.

Brad Barter

The Plan was stupid and they only did so because the initial couple of years it stated "and they have a plan." But it never needed explanation, we knew overall their plan was to wipe out humanity, nothing more on that was needed.

Chris Neumann

I'm happy with either, and they're about the same length! I voted for Farscape since I feel like it'll scratch that Doctor Who itch while being TOTALLY unlike Doctor Who. But I'll be happy with Galactica too, ben meaning to revisit it lately. But they really are night and day, from a grounded and gritty (and soapy) military-in-space drama to a bugnuts insane puppet show at the edge of the universe. Either way, can't wait to see. I do hope that we continue to get a little more classic Trek between seasons and special occasions to keep the flame burning.

Thontor

I love BSG. It's one of my favorite shows. But it deals with some heavy subjects and I'm not sure it's a fit for this channel, so I will vote for Farscape. It's a ridiculous but fun show.

Nolan

BSG is one of my all time favorite shows. But it is DARK. Like if Paula thinks the subject matter of DS9 is off-putting, BSG is steps beyond that. There is sexual manipulation and coersion in the show, and talk and a depiction of R stuff. I voted Farscape, but if you do BSG (Which is also notorious for getting taken down) I give the BIGGEST of trigger warnings.

Carrie Schwent

I was about to suggest this myself!!

Brian Hakala

You should consider doing an Orville reaction at some point as well if you haven’t seen it. As the show goes on it’s actually very much along the lines of TNG

Jay S

I was hoping for Babylon 5, but I would definitely stay onboard if you guys do Farscape. BSG is too dark for my taste, I'd pass.

Jay S

In other words, Farscape is a better show. Fun >>>>> Depressing

Alexander Caldwell

I was only here for Trek (my money's on Voyager, but I'll take whatever you got planned), but I'm going to vote for BSG, baby! I might be willing to shell out for that, and to heck with that other muppet-y silliness! J/K Never watched Farscape, but I do have to respect the silliness as Trek had plenty of it in its history ("Spock's Brain", anyone?).

Red Claw

Both solid choices. I prefer Farscape, but Battlestar Galactica is the better show. Other SciFi-Shows other than Star Trek I wish were on this poll: Stargate SG1 Babylon 5

Larry Viscarra

Gotta go with Battlestar in support of a fellow Portlander Katee Sackhoff.

Larry Viscarra

Ahem. Then you might wanna tell imdb and wikipedia.

Alisa Loudner

I'm bummed you're not going to do DS9, even folks who weren't fans on the first watch have gone back and seen the value of the show. But I'll be happy with any. Voted Farscape here though.

LogicSequence

Battlestar all the way. It's very very different from Trek, but imo one of, if not the best, scifi shows of the last 2 decades. So say we all!

Dr Q Who

Would love it if you did the V mini series from 1983 (V) and 1984 (V: The Final Battle). It could be adapted on here to be viewed as one hour segments, totalling 10 parts.

Chrono Gamer

Both of these are great shows, but BSG will stick with you.

Roy J.

Since DS9 isnt on the menu id go for BSG.

Geordie Joe

Can you react to season 3 of Star Trek Picard? It's only 10 episodes. The first two seasons are skippable but season 3 was epic.

Firefly24601

Ahem. *sneeze* "She graduated from Sunset High School in Beaverton in 1998." - Wikipedia *honk honk* *awoooooga*

Joss Town

Ooooh! Gallifrey Gals get Ineffable maybe.

DC

I guess, depending on the person, one could say that. But it's just heavy. Breaking Bad is a great show, but watching it again would be an emotional investment. BSG is like that to me. But it's going to win, lol.

Jay Fleming

With Ronald D. Moore at the helm, BSG is like the more emotional and spiritual successor to TNG. It also has a lot of relevance to our current cultural panic about identity and AI. I love Farscape, but BSG has my vote.

Funny That

One handy thing about BSG is that there is a totally spoiler free mission statement out and around. (Would include a link, but the page containing the statement has got spoilers). The new Galactic did change things up, which is why it could be a fresh-ish break from TNG. Farscape does pack in more weird concepts that makes it like TNG, but it is a change too with it's "entirely" alien setting. Damn, is it too late to split the difference and go with the short running Lexx until I make my mind up....

Chris Padwick

It would be tickety-boo - it was basically Doctor Who meets The Omen + jokes, anyway. Which is an ineffably good thing.

Kris Nimitz

i think you should watch Babylon 5 , the show would blow your mind :) after so many years i can not belive how good it is. But B5 is not in the poll, so i choose BSG.

Devin

I voted for BSG, as that's my preference. Although if I was to recommend to the Gals what I think they would enjoy more, I believe it would be Farscape. Both are good series, but they're just different. As it's been stated, Farscape is weird fun while BSG is edgy drama.

Chris Parker

I’m confused about no DS9, since it would follow next chronologically. Hopefully not Picard, since it would be difficult to follow without having seen DS9 and Voyager. Going to vote Farscape and hope for Stargate at some point.

Pate

Star Trek Generations then ST First Contact!

Anthony Acton

Farscape has my vote. I rewatch it all the time. The characters are so good!

Peter Nolan

Farscape for me. It's mix of humour, heart, and action will be right up the Gals' street and even despite the BTS messiness it still (more or less) sticks the landing. While BSG is brilliant right up until an ending so bad I've never been able to gather the will to rewatch any of it.

Mark Chrisco

BSG is the superior program. Adult in nature, it pulls no punches in its storytelling. If the material in DS9 causes pause, this may not be the show for you.

Jonathan

I'm wondering the same thing. The only thing I heard is something about obnoxious fans, but I'm not 100% sure about that. You could watch Picard fairly easily without having seen DS9, with just a basic summary. You could probably get away with a summary of Voyager too, but you would miss a lot of character development for a main character in Picard. However, because Voyager is episodic, you could easily whittle it down to a few key episodes. Just enough to give you the information you need. That would also help with watching Prodigy, which is also a great show.

Eytan

I think Farscape fits in better with the style of shows that you've been reacting to overall.

tal goren

It is also very short, so it wouldn't really burden their schedule that much.

Robert Learmont

Farscape, youll enjoy it more. galactica is good but farcape just doent get the love it deserves and just has more how you say Flavor to It. Maybe you should react to both of the first eps and decide for yourselves. the poll will be a little misleading i think.

Chris Parker

I hadn't heard about people being obnoxious either. That sucks if it's the case. If they aren't going with DS9, I hope it's either Voyager or Strange New Worlds. You can fill in the missed backstory from Picard without DS9, but the Voyager stuff would fall flat without having seen the show.

Malcolm Wolf

Quite simply Paula finished DS9 kind of recently and really did not enjoy it enough to want to watch it again. Some people picked up on her reluctance and got downright nasty about it, making her even more reluctant. Some people also have not responded well if the Gals do such things as roll their eyes or just not like certain elements of stories in the past, making the whole experience another level of not fun. While the Gals are actresses, they are not immune to the usual anxiousness of putting oneself out there for the world to see, and the experience of reacting as a whole works better for everybody when they are enthusiastic about what they watch. Just a side note: Kat might still watch the show sometime, so I'd appreciate spoilers kept to a minimum, and letting Mods/Paula decide what they need to know ahead of time.

Brett Whittaker

I don’t see Farscape lol I see Stargate sg1 s10

Chris Parker

That’s a shame. Wish people weren’t like that. Thanks for explaining though.

Angelus-1701

I love BSG but it’s pretty dark in places that a lot of people issues with so I choose Farscape

John Welch

I voted for BSG because I truly feel it is some of the best sci fi ever produced, but I feel compelled to echo some of the other comments here and point out BSG can be DARK. I mean it is gritty AF. It makes the slight star trek cynicism of DS9 look like rainbows and unicorns. One thing in particular troubles me in recommending this. I hate spoilers but I think some people may be beating around the bush to avoid them here and as an abuse survivor myself I feel the need to add a trigger warning and to point out a major plot point in season 2 involves torture and sexual violence. It is not exploitative but it is there and it hits hard. I say this not to dissuade reaction merely to allow the gals to make an informed choice. I believe there is true value in this series and am prepared to follow the gals journey through it, that's why I voted for it. But if they decide to do Farscape instead I will be just as supportive. Farscape is quality scifi. It combines TOS syle adventure with Dr. WHO weirdness with some great visuals and characterizations.

John Welch

As a show it is a great recommend but Kat has Trypophobia. She would never be able to watch g'kar. The trill spots made her queasy, lol.

Pranav Gulukota

I haven’t watched either of these shows so I don’t have an opinion on this question, but I do hope you’ll consider reacting to Star Trek Voyager, since you’re not planning to watch DS9.

R. Chang

Just want to say that I voted for BSG, but I don't think that the Gals should feel obligated to follow the results of the poll. It's a good tool to gauge the mood of your audience, but it shouldn't be more than that. 33 is, in my opinion, one of the best pilots made so if you watch that and you aren't on board, you might want to seriously think about whether you want to go all in or not. This isn't one of those shows where it has a shaky start, but finds its legs later on. BSG starts strong and lets you know exactly what kind of show it's going to be right out of the gate.

Stanton

I hope if you do Battlestar Galactica you'll do an episode of "Battlestar Galactica 1980"

Emptysea93

I really worry about Paula and Kat watching Battlestar, dont get me wrong, I absolutely love the show and its one of my faves. But if DS9 was too dark and triggering due to its subject matter, Battlerstar will be even more so. There is religious and sexual violence, horrible manipulation and gaslighting, bigotry and extremism, and lots of other subjects that Paula has indicated were no-gos for her and DS9. I worry they will begin the show and have to stop it part way through if it gets too intense.

Matthew Baur

"33" isn't a pilot, it's just the first episode of season 1. If there's anything that could be considered a pilot, it would be the miniseries.

John Welch

They have to watch the movie/miniseries before 33.

John Welch

I get the feeling it wasn't so much the material in DS9 per se, but rather that material being in a Star Trek format. I think Paula prefers her Trek inspirational and and optimistic. Gritty, pessimistic and and morally grey are not what many people want from Star Trek. I know more than a few people who loved BSG and disliked DS9.
