All shall be revealed in time. :) But yeah, Baltar's decision here is definitely frustrating. Good catch on the "Boomer's test didn't take 11 hours." There are ways you could try to explain it, but I think it must have just been a change in writing.

Awwww, I like Ellen. Okay, that probably makes me a Team of One, but still... I agree about Callie though.

Every season of BSG has the One Bad Episode. S1 has two potential contenders, but I tend to lean toward this one because of how OTT it is, and how it tries to strike a comedic tone in a show that doesn't really have the set up to deliver comedic episodes. I think this is a hold over from RDM's Trek days where they would take breaks from heavy subjects, with light levity break episodes. Plus, dated 20 year old humor. Gosh, culturally we just didn't have a clue.

I always had two things about that a) Boomer's test was intercut accross several scenes, so we don't know how long that took and b) they said in this episode that it was the verification that takes hours, which I assume means, he runs the test, it comes up green or red, then he subjects the blood sample to the same sort of radiation as in the Ragnar nebula, which takes hours to break down. I mean, if Gaius were even bothering with the results anyway.

I've watched this series many times and neve liked Ellen, but it never hit me as hard as it did today trying to see it through Kat's eyes. The difference between knowing Tigh is a character, but imagining someone doing that to a real person made me realize just how horrible and toxic she is - and that's knowing Ellen's a character too.

I'm not sure how you're managing the TW/spoiler issues, but this show deals with some of the most difficult and real experiences there are. It seems crazy that we should be surprised by the trauma considering how the whole story starts, but somehow it manages to do it.

Your reaction to Ellen Tigh did not disappoint. It's been nearly 20 years but the dialog and the acting still hit hard. She is easily the most repulsive character in the series and that's saying something lol.

In addition to what you said, I also added in to myself that Boomer's test was just a beta test so the time on hers could easily be different from the real tests.

I think some of the Cylon detector plot was tweaked because they weren't really sure where they were going with it at first. (just my opinion) Like having Balthar say "everyone gets a pass" was the writers wanting to get that plot device off the table so they could screw with us more. (or "Moore")

I love rewatching this series with y'all. The level of violation Ellen commited on Saul went over my head when I first watched this, but the emotion on your faces spoke volumes and I am in a place now where I totally get it. Also, kudos to the sound department for making sure we knew the lab scene was ultimately supposed to be comedic, because the actors had to play it totally straight. And if the music had been dramatic, it wouldn't have worked. Also, the subtle mention of Billy stating "we don't know who's been replaced with a Cylon" because it's one thing for there to be sleeper agents, who appear human, but this might be the first time they're considering that maybe real people were *replaced* by Cylons. Just another way for the show to frak with us - like Adama "suddenly" acting strangely. Not a spoiler, just noting how his comment played into *this* episode.
