v64 changelog (Patreon)

After almost a month, it's time to start working on the new v64! 🔨 ✍

🚨 As usual I remember to Premium members that you can find here on Patreon the nightly builds posts where you'll can download the nightly versions which will already include the new features/bugfixes listed below 👍

Nightly build (2024-05-27):

The preferences system has been completely rewritten: now all program settings will be saved to (and loaded from) a local file (settings.dat). This will definitively prevent cases where program preferences are reset or completely erased due to updates to new versions of the JVM or JRE/JDK. This will also bypass all Windows-imposed limitations for saving data inside the system registry (such as the maximum string length limits). Additionally, this way will be much simpler and more straightforward to move the program from one PC to another while retaining all saved settings because you just need to copy the settings.dat file and everything will be transferred without having to manually back up and reload the settings like in the past.

An automatic function has been created at program startup that will perform the migration between the old and the new preferences systems in the background. This way you shouldn't lose any previously saved settings (hopefully, at least xD).

The functions (and menu entries) for backing up preferences to a file have been removed from the program (since now, with the new system, settings are already saved to an external file by default). Note: I kept the function for restoring preferences from a file only to keep compatibility with any preferences already backed up using the old system.

Fixed the support for the Comik website (and also updated the domain to the new one).

Fixed the support for Mangaplus and its new API system.

Updated the protobuf library to support the new Mangaplus APIs.

Nightly build (2024-06-01):

Updated the FlatLaf library to the latest available version, resulting in improved, more modern, and more visually appealing JVM themes.

Added the support for 48 extra new JVM themes!

Added a white variant for the icons used by the program and an option, in the Edit menu, to switch between black and white icons (this way the user can choose the one that best suits their preferred theme).  

Added a new function in the bookmarks view to download all the chapters of the manga currently in bookmarks and never downloaded before

Nightly build (2024-06-22):

Updated the domain for hiperdex.top (#834)

Added the support for visortmo.com (#64)

Added the support for ramaorientalfansub.tv (requested by a Patron)

Fixed a couple of minor bugs

Nightly build (2024-07-30):

Added the support for tappytoon.com

Added the ability to download purchased contents from Lezhinus.com

Added a system that allows displaying a warning message when trying to load manga from websites that have restrictions or require specific configurations. For now, the only websites to display warnings are Lezhin and Tappytoon.

Fixed a couple of minor bugs

Note: I plan to release the new public version in the first days of August, barring unforeseen circumstances, so very likely this will be the last nightly build for this version.
