Well, it finally happened, this morning I received my very first DMCA notice by Google, courtesy of Webtoons (thank you for the milestone, I guess?):

Apparently, the issue (for now) seems to be just the fact that I listed supported websites on the page. According to them, even mentioning sites like these is considered "promoting scanlation websites."

The bad news? This definitely means Webtoons has seen the project… and this takedown is probably just the opening move. So, in future versions, I’ll probably give Webtoons the same treatment as Tapas — I’ll remove support from the main program and release an external script instead, just to be safe.

So yeah, fun times ahead. Stay tuned and, as always, thanks for the support!

The only silver lining, if we really want to find one in this whole mess, is that Google has removed the site from its search results, so it’s probably not going to get much attention anymore from other publishers 😂 Of course, that also means that without word of mouth, the number of users will likely drop off a cliff, which isn’t exactly great for me 😅 But hey, at least it’ll help keep away any unwanted attention 🤣
