Development Diary #2: Webcomicsapp Fixes, Comix and Library Mode Status Updates (Patreon)

Hello everyone!

I’m officially back at my desk after my week off. I didn't mention the reason for my absence beforehand, but I actually had to undergo an inguinal hernia surgery. Everything went smoothly, I am recovering well, and I’m ready to dive straight back into development 💪

Upon checking the reports after my return, I noticed that the only bugs reported were for the Webcomicsapp and Comix plugins. Here is the situation for both:

Webcomicsapp Plugin Fixes

I’ve spent the morning addressing the issues with the Webcomicsapp plugin, specifically regarding token saving errors. I have just released an update that includes:

Data Cleanup: Added ability to clear previously saved data to prevent conflicts (simply by leaving either the username or password fields empty and clicking OK).

Improved Token Recognition: Better handling of saved tokens to ensure they are recognized correctly.

New "Force Login" Option: You will find a new setting in the Extras menu. Enabling this will force a fresh login for every request, completely bypassing any potential issues with token expiration or reuse.

This update should resolve all current issues with that plugin. You can already find the updated file attached to this post 👍

The Situation with Comix

Regarding Comix, I’m aware it is currently broken. As explained in the dedicated GitHub issue, the website has become increasingly hostile toward third-party tools. They are now rotating their API encryption keys every few hours, which causes any standard fix to break almost immediately.

To get around this problem, I’ve decided to completely rewrite the plugin. While the previous version only used a browser to bypass Cloudflare protections, the new version will need to utilize the web browser to actually retrieve the chapter and page lists too. This is a significant rewrite that will take a few days of work, but it should be definitely doable, so don't worry about it for now 👍

Library Mode Reactivation

In addition to the plugin fixes, I am also working hard to quickly reactivate the Library mode. While it might not be functioning at 100% of its full capabilities right away, I am confident that it will still be incredibly useful to many of you even at half capacity.
