Hi everyone!

Today I am here to release of a brand-new plugin compatible with the current JAM Alpha, introducing support for Renta! (ebookrenta dot com).

This plugin was explicitly requested just yesterday by one of our Premium members. Because your incredible backing is what keeps this project alive, I wanted to turn this around as quickly as possible as a special thank you. Since I don’t sell merchandise, creating these exclusive features and bonuses is my favorite way to show you all how much I truly appreciate your ongoing support ❤️

🔒 Patreon Exclusive & No Support

As many of you know from our previous updates regarding platforms like Tapas, I am highly committed to keeping JAM on good terms with official, licensed websites. Because Renta! is an official platform, this plugin will remain a permanent Patreon exclusive.

This means:

Patreon Locked: This plugin will never be included in the public version of JAM. It will require an active, linked Patreon account to function within the app. So, even if it gets leaked outside of Patreon (which obviously I ask you not to do), it will still be completely unusable with the public version of the software.

No Future Support: This is being released strictly "as-is" as a one-time gift. I will not be providing updates, maintenance, or any future support to keep this specific plugin active.

Disclaimer

As always happens with JAM plugins for official websites, this plugin does not bypass paywalls or allow you to download content you do not own.

If you attempt to download a chapter that you haven't purchased yet, the plugin will automatically open a browser window that redirecta you to the official storefront where you can buy it. For this reason, please browse carefully. I take absolutely no responsibility if you accidentally make an unintended purchase on the platform through a wrong click. Also, while the plugin is designed to handle your purchased content, using third-party tools always carries inherent risks. I am not responsible for any potential account/IP bans or restrictions if the platform detects automated downloading. Use this plugin entirely at your own risk.

How to Install

The download link is attached below for eligible tiers. Just copy the plugin (the attached .jar file) into the plugins folder inside your Alpha directory. Keep in mind that JAM scans for plugins only upon launch. So, if the application is already running, you must restart it to allow it to detect the newly added plugin.

Thank you all once again for making the development of JAM possible!

I am in love with this release! Made me go back to my account on that site, to get the titles I bought long ago. Was hoping to ask about a possible plug in for Manga Plaza site as well? It's where I moved to buying officials there, and would love to be able to back up my collection there too! Regardless, loving the Support for the Renta site!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I am thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the Renta release and that it helped you back up your old collection. Regarding your request for Manga Plaza, I would certainly love to help you back up your library there as well. However, I have to be transparent: these official platforms are often heavily protected, and their code is usually highly obfuscated to prevent downloads. Because of this, I unfortunately cannot guarantee that I will be able to create a working plugin for it. That being said, I will definitely look into it and give it my best try 👍

I do appreciate ALL your efforts! Would love if you could, but do I understand if you can't! I am still over the moon over the renta plugin! Had no idea it was a thing, so was a pleasant surprise to have joined your patreon and find it! :)

I have actually been analyzing the options for a few days now. Unfortunately, as I anticipated, the website's images are heavily obfuscated and strictly protected. Specifically, they do not physically reside on the server as whole files; rather, they are fetched in chunks and reconstructed by the web browser at the time of rendering. Consequently, attempting to access the original source images is practically impossible (or rather, futile). However, since the alpha version includes web browser support, I am considering opting for the classic workaround: letting the browser handle all the processing and directly capturing the final rendered image 🤣 Admittedly, this is not an efficient method, as it will require scrolling through the entire page to dynamically load, decrypt, reconstruct, and display all the fragments. Nevertheless, it is the only viable approach. It will be somewhat complex to manage, but I have the core concept established, so it will require some work to implement, but it definitely seems feasible 👍

Fingers crossed for luck! And damn, that explains a lot though....I have tried using a screenshot extension on the site...and while it works for the default size (Which ends up being a lot of the text bubbles being too small to actually read.) the large size, i would have to screenshot it in three segments, and then try to stich each segment together individually by my own hand....I have tried finding a program that could do the stiching for me, but don''t even know if that is the right term I am using for such a process, and if that is why have not been able to find something like that. I have done a few chapters myself, but there is no way I could stitch together my entire collection by hand...just too many chapters at this point! ^^'' I'll keep hoping and cheering for your success!

You hit the nail on the head, that is exactly the technical challenge I am currently tackling 😅 The core issue with this specific site is that the images are served browser-side in multiple split segments (usually 2 or 3 parts per page). When the program downloads them, it retrieves these separate fragments as individual image files, rather than a single cohesive page. To solve this, I am currently planning to implement an automated image-stitching mechanism directly within the application's memory. This process will reconstruct the split pieces seamlessly during the download phase, so by the time the pages are saved to your storage, they will already be perfectly merged into single, readable images, saving you from any tedious manual stitching. That being said, I also want to accommodate the "archival purists" in our community. I know many users prefer to back up their collection exactly as it exists on the source servers, without any post-processing or quality alteration. To respect that, I will definitely include a toggle option in the settings to disable this feature, allowing users to choose between original, untouched fragments or fully reconstructed pages 👍 Thank you so much for your support and for cheering me on!

Oh wow, sounds very impressive what you are working to accomplish there! And happy to hear I did have the right word for the process I was doing manually! As for the plugin for renta, in just a few days I managed to back up with your program over 200 individual chapters I purchased over the years! XD Meanwhile between it and Manga plaza (I have bought way more on plaza!) In only had time to do manual stitching on 101 chapters. XD Again very impressive, the program and you, and your technical know how!
