In the last days I was thinking about a new exclusive feature for Manga Downloader, an integrated reader for chapters directly inside the app!I already coded a quick version of the reader, you can find a screenshot about the idea here https://i.imgur.com/l05dmeD.png or a 1-minute video here https://i.imgur.com/2zbfFdr.mp4But this is only the first step of a bigger idea, for the future I would like to make the program a complete all-in-one tool for manga fans, something like Calibre for ebooks to make it clear. So, for example, I mean a complete tool to manage a personal manga library (perhaps also using external APIs of known services such as MyAnimeList to obtain info, covers and status tracking) which will give you not only the ability of downloading manga and their chapters, but also keeping them sorted, categorized and archived (perhaps with support also for cloud services such as Google Drive or others that offer public APIs) and with the ability to read them on the fly without the need to use other apps.

Obviously, however, this will take much time and work and will certainly bring with it several bugs that will have to be fixed with (even more) time and effort, so yes, there is also the downside in a similar transformation for the program. And that's the reason I'm here for asking you what do you think about this idea. So, what do you think of such a feature? Would you use it? Do you find it useful? Or you think it's only a useless waste of time since you would always use other apps to read your downloaded manga anyway? Please let me know 😄

I think it's a nice idea. I currently use YACReaderLibrary to organize everything but the only available API for importing info is Comicvine which doesn't organize manga very well. Having something that could organize and present volumes and chapters with their actual titles instead of their file names would also be great. The main benefit to YACReader is that I can keep the library open on my computer and use it as a server to read and download from. Even with all of its other issues, THAT is the reason I use it above any other reader. Any other service would have to have something similar in order for me to consider switching over.

i voted for "useless waste of time" though i would not word it like that 😅 i have plenty of ways to read mangas and making your app "do coffee too" seems a bit silly. What i need is a downloader and file-manager which lets me do cataloguing and renaming without doing it a second time with other stuff. This already has the beginning of it... but not really. I would prefer keeping my collection organized as i want *right after downloading it*... rather than having whatever random arbitrary naming convention each site uses. So if anything i would prefer to be able to assign all the same comics to a given comic and rename files as i want and do a proper sorting of stuff.... with a click. Instead of having a mess where i have to click once to check for chapters and click twice to download them but if i forget i checked the chapters and re-check them it does not download the chapters it had found. And also ways to rename everything even from multiple sources by telling the program "see this? this is also part of that. It follows this pattern, so rename it in the pattern i gave you for that" etc. etc. etc. there is a lot to do in there, which nobody does, and i have to do it manually each time with no less than 2 different pattern seeks (folders and files) on a program that is specifically made to rename files and folders and move stuff around... manga readers instead? they are a dime a dozen and everybody and their cousin already has them in whatever flavour they wish.

Agreed, there are a number of readers but not many downloaders, the latter is what I'm here for. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a useless feature, but it's not one I'd ever use.

Thank you very much guys for all your votes, it seems it wasn't a so great idea after all, I'm glad I had your honest opinion and avoided wasting precious time 🙏🏻 Well, maybe I'll just insert in next versions the image viewer as an extra tool exclusive to Patreon supporters because it is already almost ready to use and I would sorry to throw it away 😅 Thank you again for your support 👍
